• New work rig freezing

Hey All, I just built a new rig for work and before I list off all the parts let me describe the issue I am having. On occasion with no rhyme or reason windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit will freeze and produce a red or blue checker pattern across the entire screen. This can easily be corrected by resetting the system but I have had this freezing issue crop up once or twice during the boot splash screen as well. I have included a few pictures of the exact issue at the bottom of the post. AMD A10-7870K Godavari Quad-Core 3.9 GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AD787KXDJCBOX Desktop Processor AMD Radeon R7 ASUS A68HM-K FM2+ AMD A68H FCH (Bolton D2H) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard Crucial BX200 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT240BX200SSD1 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C11D-8GXM Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes Rosewill RNX-N250PCe - Wireless N300 Wi-Fi Adapter - IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, Up to 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Data Rates, PCI E Interface RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply The only setting I have touched in the bios are the fan and ram speed. At first I thought It might be related to me increasing the ram speed from 1600 to 2400 so I brought it back down to 1600, while that appeared to help at first it inevitably happened again. I have played with different ram speeds over the past few days but it happens no matter what. Today is the first day I cranked it up to 2400 mhz and left it there, so far only one freeze in the morning, an improvement but not a total solution. Another idea I had was the fact that the sata cables that came with the asus motherboard were pretty flimsy and moved around quite a bit inside their connectors. Thinking these may be making a bad connection every once in a while I replaced them with some coboc brand cables, nice and tight now. Ive seen a few things that point toward the heat sink not making proper contact and I admit I have not tired to reseat my cooler master T4 yet. This is mainly because of the fact that I ran the stock cooler for the first few days and during that time encountered the freezing issue much more frequently before the T4 took its place. If you guys think it would be prudent to give it another go at mating the heatsink and cpu I will give it a try. Other than that Ive ran stress tests on the ram and cpu, fidgeted with cable placement and tried to monitor the temps as best I can. Everything passes the tests and AMD overdrive reports me being anywhere between 50 and 60C on the thermal margin during everyday workloads(no gaming). Ive tried googling my issue but I cant find solid evidence of this happening to anyone with similar specs. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance! I'd hazard a guess at RAM. Run memtest.
I'd say the graphics card.
I'd hazard a guess at RAM.
roger that, I have an older version of memtest packaged with hirens boot cd that I have been using but it cant hurt to run the newest version.
I'd say the graphics card.
I really hope not since this is an APU, the graphics processors are all on the CPU die. Welp might as well run some more stress tests on the processor.
