Well, it's true if you don't know what you're doing
On the other hand using the console to fix shit is so frequent in bethesda games it's pretty much part of the gameplay at this point
I've not had to use console commands once in Fallout 4 at 77 hours. Not denying that using the console isn't useful just that in my experience it's never been needed.
I've only had to use the console to progress past instant CTDs about a dozen times now. There's also a portion of the map I can't go near around Monsignor Plaza that stopped me progressing in the main story and a bunch of other quests. This is the first time that I've actually had such a bad experience with crashes in a Fallout game.
I've had to use tcl quite a bit to make pieces of settlements fit together, I hope that doesn't screw anything up.
I had to fix a fucked up quest with commands, and have cheated cores, and telepoofed the dog to me, and I'm fine
many many hours in and there's been no problems
thankfully I'm smart and save a LOT
I've gotten stuck so many times tcl is pretty much the only command I use
I've cheated so many crafting materials that I think my save would have been corrupted by now. Also, lots of ammo for companions
Had to use TCL since sometimes when entering a Power Armor or a terminal my character would glitch through the scenery and get stuck in the "approaching" animation.
I've used console commands to remove shit from my settlements that I can't get rid of normally
I don't want a giant scorpion corpse sitting in the middle of a room in my settlement
I was forced to teleport some NPC's to me because of one of the police stations breaking whenever I enter resulting in me along with almost every object in the building falling through the floor.
Thank fuck I got this on PC.
I honestly don't know if I'm lucky or if I do exactly what is intended everytime, but I barely ever had any crashes or gamebreaking bugs at all across every fallouts I've played, literally I think I can count the amount of crashes of all games put together on one hand, what are you guys doing to "constantly crash"? Sometimes I really feel like people either go out their way to get the game to bug out or are simply hopping on the complain-train
I use tcl a fair bit because I'm always aggressively going off the actual pathways.
Once I had to warp to sanctuary hills because I was stuck in a hospital, a nuke mutant was sitting there and would instantly detonate at the millisecond I loaded through the only exit.
And I used a console command to get rid of molerat disease because that's the dumbest shit. I'd merely tolerate it IF I was told I had it in the first place and it was a perk rather than a permanent status effect

Running the game. I don't know if you know this or not, but PCs have extremely varied hardware. There's absolutely no way to make these games run flawlessly every time, you just got lucky that your specific components all work nicely with it. Even people with the same specs can have issues that you don't.

4 games, nice. You're anecdotal. Bethesda games' issues wouldn't be so widely known if they were that rare or required significant user error.

I used it to set my FOV and that was it :v:
