System Shock branded Razer laptop? Whew that's intense.
newcomers should remember this protip for when they play:[sp]write down the numbers on the monitors you see on each level[/sp]
*No story spoilers here boys I'm just being courteous because I know some folks don't like saving potentially 5 hours of backtracking

Don't tell them that, it's more hilarious when they figure it out. Fortunately I heard the same tip but totally forgot to get the authentic first time experience.
I'm game for a demo. I mean, I'm probably gonna buy this anyways, so a demo will be quite likely to reel me in even further.
so is System Shock 1 and 2 kinda like Quake 1 and 2 where it doesnt matter which order you play in? ( also are they remaking SS2? )

System Shock 1 is related but not to such a degree you need to play it. Most people probably haven't, really

Unlike Q1/2, he stories are linked, but you're not really missing anything if you play SS2 first - there are a lot of references to SS1 but for the majority, you don't have to have played it to understand them. The SS1 storyline goes like this: You, a hacker, removed the ethical constraints on the AI that controls a space station, Citadel, in exchange for some sick-ass cyber implants. You wake up after recovery to find the station's gone to shit because of said hacking. SS2 takes place in the same universe, years after that incident, but the player character isn't the same person.
So far as I've heard, they'll be doing System Shock 3 next if this remaster is successful. No confirmation as to an SS2 remake.

SS2 references SS1, but its not necessary to play SS1. There is a "cutscene" that will bring you up to speed on what you needed to know. You would also appreciate part of the end section more. I wish I could've played them in order with no advance knowledge but oh well.
Oh great, now I get to shit myself every 5 minutes but at least it's in HD.
Now if the trailer for the remaster a little while ago was anything to go by, they're overhauling the gameplay altogether and they're revamping some level design/geometry while still trying to keep it faithful. Interesting to see how this will turn out.
fun fact, maxofs2d is an animator on this. looking forward to well-animated mutant dong

System Shock 3 is in development by Other side Entertainment.
IIRC Warren Spector is the head of the project.

In this day and age that tip doesn't really apply too much anymore.
"Shit you're telling me I have to go all the fucking way back there to get a number?" leads to pressing shift+tab and googling the codes with the Steam overlay browser.

Can't wait to see the enemies get inflated along with his ego.

That's pretty great actually, I'll have to be sure to keep a .txt file open in good ol' monitor 2.
My dick is diamonds right now.
I hope the demo is all of Medical, I feel like that's a proper show of how the game is going to feel.
I must be the only person to have liked cyberspace. I will admit it needs a couple of touch ups to handle better though.
If anything I would like a little more cyberspace, it's not used often enough, which makes it feel like a gimmick.

this summer
facepunch studios presents
poo in hd
That sounds interesting. The idea of needing to progress separately in two different worlds sounds really neat in concept but I can see it being scrapped for being too complicated.
Not really sure I like the idea of it being kickstarted, but then again I guess they realize its' worth it with the amount of System Shock fans that are around these days.
Looking real forward to take a look at the demo though.
