So it's going to be used exactly the same way basic CCTV cameras are already used in, except massively more effective. Oh I thought this was about the game...

I don't see what the huge issue with CCTV is. Having higher quality images and more cameras will just serve to catch criminals better. Its not like someone needs to be watching them 24/7, as long as a camera is recording and a criminal is seen then they can go back and look at footage.
CCTV doesn't bother me, what would bother me is if they recorded sound. That's too far.
I'm still amazed how they can ever get a positive ID from the grainy, low-resolution shit that is the current CCTV.
Public Surveillance is a good anti-criminal measure. I don't see anything immoral about it.
Now they are going to be big though. Traditional CCTV lenses cover about a 16mm frame, and their lenses are rather small. So if these are fitting SLR lenses to get more detail and using larger sensors, then they are going to be substantially larger
I don't see anything wrong with this. If it helps catch criminals then i'm fine. I'm wondering about how they are gonna store all of that video, they would need whole data centers for this.
I don't know about some people but I would feel a lot better knowing there is high quality CCTV that has my back if I were to say, get jumped or something by a bunch of muggers. That way they would get the fuck caught. [editline]4th October 2012[/editline] The only real reason people have a problem is if they have something to hide a lot of the time.

I know it is in the US and i know the exact law for my state, but it all varies. For here though, both parties need to agree first to be taped on video and audio.
Invasion of privacy for one.
You are on public property.
Invasion of privacy for one.
Major murder case was solved within a week recently in Australia thanks to CCTV identifying the guy. CCTVs in public are great, I don't know why people are complaining. They do not get in the way, they are efficient and very useful in case a crime happens. And they deter a lot of crimes too. I said it before, but I wish they'd place more cameras around my neighborhood. I feel it would help a lot. Especially in those alleys.
The innocent have nothing to fear.
