I am planning on making a gaming room/building, which, among other things, will house a computer loaded with every one of my games (Flight Sims, GMOD, FPS, etc). What would I be looking to get if I were looking for the best of the best in circa February 2011? It will take me awhile to get money for this.
Consider this a fantasy build, and please, give price qutoes if availble. In an effort to combat a bunch of people listing a singular part, I will compile the best into the OP. Also, this is no budget, so no nVidia v. ATi or Intel v. AMD arguments. I am partial to both ATi and AMD, but if their opponent currently has a better GPU/CPU, I'm open to using that.
Have fun!
Thanks, Double.

Bump this thread in february.
If you're wanting high end, listen to Go-Dong, wait till February when Sandy Bridge is out.
Alright guys, thanks for the advice, and thanks for not being dicks about it haha :)
I'm not too sure about AM3 though, you can build some pretty nice cheap rigs at the moment.
I'm going all-out haha, I'd say budget is probably 10-20k. Yes, I do know how to build a computer (I'm on the one I built), but I really want an awesome rig.
Remake the thread in February. Also, we'd love a build log if you could, since it's a extremely high budget build.
haha holy shit
10-20k is way to much for a high end
I'll make you a $2000 computer if you want, just give me the word.
Spending any thing above $2000 on a computer is a waste.
Buy him a shit load of peripherals like flight systems, super chairs and a home theatre system, then 6 screens or something. It'll still take a lot to fill up his budget though.
It's more like what you can't build with that much dosh.

10-20k? Well I bet the PC will be max $4000, excluding water cooling if you want to do that.

it has some of the worst input lag out of most monitors on the market right now, terrible for gaming
How about you go with liquid-nitrogen cooling?
I'm sure you can afford it.

Holy shit that thing is huge.
3x3 ASUS VG236HEs, quad 580 SLI, EVGA SR-2, dual Intel X5680s, two 24GB DDR3 1600 Ripjaws kits, Enermax 1250W, one Lian Li V2120X.
That's $10,875.02 including shipping. What else?
[editline]12th December 2010[/editline]
Oh and a 1TB OCZ Z-Drive brings the total to $15,026.43.

dont forget water cooling. not watercooling and overclocking a beast like that would be a waste. of the possibilities. think of the possibilities man. you could have the biggest computer builder e-peen in the history of computers...
So overclock those Xeons to 8ghz like a MAN!
Also, you should add another 1tb OCZ Z-Drive and put them in RAID-0. Just one by itself isn't fast enough.
Just slap on 1,000 for watercooling. Spend the rest on peripherals.
