I'm using everything correctly, I even got it to work yesterday. For the PS3, it supposed to autodetect the HDMI cable, which it did the first time I used it, not working, decided to do it manually, didn't, yes I changed the channel. I've reset both the video settings on the PS3 and the TV. The HDMI cable is secure. Please help me. (resolution isn't the problem, I played in 1080p)

What? I can't change that. I can't get into HD at all
you have to go to the settings where you set the resolution, check all but 720, trust me the same thing happened to me

I can only view it on regular AV/Video
Uhm. Well i really don't know what else to tell you other than you have to go to your video settings and check standered, 480, 1080i, and 1080p then HD will work
Change the settings manually for HDMI output while using AV and do as Retyouligkl instructed. As soon as your screen goes black plug in the HDMI cable and remove the AV/Video. Your screen should appear and it will ask you if you want to keep these settings with a countdown timer of 30 seconds, hit yes obviously and all should work.
Just did that, didn't work. I went through all the video and display relevant settings, none of them allowed you to change resolution.
turn off your ps3.
press on the power button till you hear 3 consecutive beeps, it might take a few tries to do. after that it should fix.

Did you read the OP? I already did that

Oh and btw, I don't think it works because of an update, I saw a video of a guy doing it and it's not showing those options.
Alright. I'll explain how I did it from scratch. Than tell me if you done it any different.
First I hook up my HDMI cables from my PS3 to the HDTV. Since HDMI isn't setup yet you'd get video from your composite cables (the red, yellow and white one). Which would just mean your most likely getting picture from your TV's Video 1 or 2 etc. inputs.
I started up my PS3, went to Settings > Display Settings. Now you'll see Video Output Settings. Choose that and you'll get a list of type of connections you want. Choose HDMI.
After choosing HDMI, choose Automatic on your next selection. Your PS3 will now automatically configure your HDMI cable to your TV.
After all that I just went to my HDMI inputs and wallah! I was playing in HD.
So, is this how you did it or did it happen differently for you?
Uhhhh, I can't get past selection of HDMI, as it shows a black screen, no matter what channel

Than your HDMI cable must have fucked up than. Since you said you where playing in HD before, but now it just stops working. All I can say is, trying buying another HDMI cable since your getting nothing but a black screen after you try to detect it.

We use it for the DVR too, so its fine. I have the PS3 hooked up to a wall, I have the normal cords hooked up to the TV and the HDMI to HDMI channel 1, both plugged in at the same time.
