Ok, first off, not your computer's history, but your history with computers. Mine basically goes like this. My father was on the cutting edge about new home computer technology in the 1980's and 1990's and actually dropped out of pharmacy to start a company dealing with computer art and mass replication of dvr, dv-roms, cd-roms, and the what-not. So when I came of age for my first laptop, he gave me his. All of these laptops were used by my dad immidietly before he gave them to me to upgrade his own. But right now, he doesn't have a laptop. He has this P.O.S. [IMG]http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j435/venividivici74/ipad-gizmodo.jpg[/IMG] Anyway, brief computer history, and I am interested to find out what else people have had over the years.

I don't think anyone keeps track of their computer names and types, I just remember the colors and style. I had an ugly light brown IBM computer that sucked when it came to looking at porn when I was 4 I then upgraded to an even more ugly light brown computer that was dell when I then upgraded to some sort of Black computer that was great will pixle games I then upgraded to another black dell computer that was okay until it got filled with viruses i get from miniclip.com I now have a black flatscreen dell computer with a decent processor and ram. 2000: [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/56/Indigo_iMac_G3_slot_loading.jpg[/img_thumb] One of the last iMac G3s they made. Indigo blue, a 500mhz PPC G3, 256 megs of RAM, 20GB HDD, [i]slot loading[/i] CD Drive. :smug: It came with Cro Mag Rally. It was fucking BRILLIANT! IT COULD RUN OS 9 AND THEREFOR ALL SORTS OF VAPORWARE! And I got Star Trek Elite Force with that computer. It ran it on mostly high  Late 2005: [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/02/Mac-mini-1st-gen.jpg[/img_thumb] A Mac Mini G4. 1.42Ghz PowerPC G4. 512megs of RAM. 80gb Hard Drive. It was less brilliant than the iMac, but around three times as good in every aspect. It served me well for a long time. It was my last "pure" Mac, after it it was all Intels. It still lives in my room. Christmas 2008: [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/24/MacBook_Pro_situated_on_a_wooden_table.jpg[/img_thumb] FUCK YEAH! My dad got a new MacBook Pro, so he gave me his old one. 15.4" screen, Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz, 2gb RAM, ATI Radeon X1600, good stuff. Turned out the Logic Board(What Apple calls motherboards) was fractured nearly in half and it was unusable after two months. THE DARK TIMES, February 2009 to June 2009: [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5b/Imac17pouces.png[/img_thumb] My mother's iMac :byodood: It was the midsize one, whatever the size is. It was the second generation, I think. When they were still getting used to Intel processors. Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz, 512mb RAM, 320gb HDD and ANOTHER X1600 with 128mb VRAM. :crying: It was barely able to play GMod in Crossover, and I had to trick it into thinking it had 256mb VRAM to even get it to run. Which meant that when it used that up, the system would crash. NOT GOOD. June 2009 - Present: THE GLORY YEARS! [img_thumb]http://www.everymac.com/images/other_images/macbook-pro-15-2009.jpg[/img_thumb] Brand spanking new MacBook Pro 15"! Fan-fucking-tastic computer. Second iteration of the Unibody ones, right when they gained the SD slots and dropped the Express slots. Unfortunately, it has that silly Mini Display Port, but other than that, IT'S FUCKING INDESTRUCTABLE! Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz, 4gb RAM (Goes up to 8! :byodood:), nVidia 9400m integrated AND a 9600m GT discreet with 512mb VRAM. A massive improvement over anything I had previously used. And, a 500gb hard drive, which I have still yet to even half fill. I also installed Windows on this beast, destroying the partition map(I think) making me unable to use OS X for the past month or so. Other than that, it is by far the best machine I have ever owned. Late September 2010-Present: Power House! [img_thumb]http://www.dvhardware.net/news/thermaltake_element_g.jpg[/img_thumb] I needed a more powerful computer for my Animation class. So I built this. Figured I might as well get something that could run Crysis great, too :v:. It's an i7 870 @ stock 2.93Ghz(for now), a MSI P55-GD65 mobo, 8gb of GSkills RipJaw series red shiny RAM, a Samsung Spinpoint F3, some cheap memorex DVD/R drive/burner, and more importantly, an MSI GTX 460 Cyclone 1gb. It's all wrapped up in a ThermalTake Element G with some cheap combo PSU also from ThermalTake rated at 850 watts. Watt? It's running well, thanks for asking, and with Windows 7, it is FAR more pleasant than the XP I have on my MacBook Pro. And fuck if it isn't powerful! AND THE LIGHTS ARE RAINBOWS! So yeah, that's about all my computers so far. I also want to build a mini-ITX lanbox in a small Lan-Li case, but that's a tale for another time.
Dammit, I didn't write all that down for this thread to die!

1997. Dad bought a win95 huge ass-pc. i enjoyed learning how to use it, at age 7, on dad's spare time. i remember i was afraid of modem's startup sounds. 2001 Dad bought a win xp pc for his own buisness. i got the 95, upgraded to a 98. There, i could have drawn things on paint all-day-long. wow. 2006. Dad buys a laptop. I bought parts, and buildt my first own pc at age 15 2009. My little bro, at age 9, starts using the laptop. Dad buys another win-xp pc for his own. 2010. I upgrade my 2006 pc with new parts. it's now a win-7, 512mb video card, 2.16hz dual core, 2gb ram. still vedy outdated, i can't play the latest games out. well, i never really used the pc to play.
1996 or something we buy a family computer with windows 1995 2000 we buy a new one 2003 I get my own fujitsu siemes, it was pretty good 2006 I buy a new one 2007 I upgrade it 2009 it broke down, R.I.P, after that I have used this shitty laptop that crashes every now and then without reason. [editline]30th October 2010[/editline] Why so many macfags here?
1999 - Some IBM P.O.S. 2003 - Present Emachines E4036 - Modified slowly over time. Still crap but hey, it works. [img]http://www.itreviews.co.uk/graphics/normal/hardware/h948.jpg[/img]
First laptop I remember was my Dad's old laptop, something like this: [img]http://www.notebook-driver.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/sonyvaio-sz-01.jpg[/img] It was really shitty and couldn't run a lot of mundane things. After that, we got a Family HP Pavilion machine that was ok and could run HL2, GMod, stuff like that. Looked like this but silver. : [img]http://www.techshout.com/images/hp-elite-m9600-pc-eco-comfort-mouse.jpg[/img] After that got BSOD'd, we stopped using computers for a while which I was mad over. Then one day, I got this bad mofo which I am using now. It was an early Christmas present. : [img_thumb]http://www.hardwaregeeks.com/images/uploads/hdx1821.jpg[/img_thumb] It's what I use now. My setup is that I hooked up like a 22 inch Flatron [i]Wide[/i] monitor to it so I have dual screens. It can run Farcry 2 on all very high settings somehow with no lag although it seems it has a shitty processor and GPU. Centrino 2 inside, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 130. 4 GB of RAM. 500 GB HDD. I don't know how it does it. And mine runs Windows 7 and Ubuntu on the side. It can also run Crysis. Explain to me why it can do these things.
