I have a spare computer downstairs, and would like to transform it into a server for hosting personal game servers and perhaps websites too, which Linux should I use for it? Thanks
What's the specs on the computer, and what gameserver(s) do you intend to host? Also how fast is your upload/download?
In my experience, I use a Pentium 4 PC with Lubuntu to host a TF2 server and a website from home, and it can get to about 18 players. I know I should use the server edition, but I'm not experienced enough with linux to not have a GUI. One of these days I'll build a better server machine.
i run arch linux for my server box. it works fantastic
