• Origin or Steam, which do you like?

So I want the Sims 3, except steam has it for 80 dollars and Origin has it for 27 dollars, I do not know if I should get it with Origin, or find a steam key site. Since I can not find any legit ones besides Intkeys (Trusted, it works). But doesn't have it for steam. Reminder: This is not to start a war, some people might like Origin more than steam, but still use it, vice versa or infact like both.
Steam. But if Origin has a cheaper price, I'd just buy it there.
If you're saving that much money, just get it on Origin. Origin isn't as bad as people let on, in fact I've had less problems with it than Steam.
I'll never, ever buy anything off Origin. It's not just about the price, I'm simply not giving my money to EA. They do everything wrong, they treat their customers like garbage and ruin good games with forced DRM and the like. They did remove most of their major titles from Steam, only to put them on Origin. Says a lot about their marketing strategy.
The only reason I EVER bought anything on origin was because of bf3.
Did you really except that anyone on Facepunch would vote Origin?
Did you really except that anyone on Facepunch would vote Origin?
Nope, but still, I do not know everyone here.
I've never even heard of Origin Seriously, i've never even heard anyone say that name before
-snip-
The only game I've bought on Origin is BF3, but it seemed to work fine. The download speed was much better than what I get from Steam usually.
Neither They are both shit
Steam because I dont really like it play any ea games, mirrors edge is about it
I think you're going to find that almost everyone on this website will prefer Steam to Origin.
Both because on origin i can install the games where ever i want. On steam they are pretty much locked to a certain hard-drive. Still i mostly use Steam no matter how impractical it would be to use.

That means no Battlefield 3 or Mass Effect 3 for me but they're not good enough to give money to EA anyway.
Steam. Why? Because Valve started very, very early with it, back in 2002/2003 and it really is great now. Why I hate Origin? Not only because I don't want a second programme installed to play my games, but also because EA tries to get the same success in less than 1 year, what Valve took 8 years to accomplish. Because they call forced marketing a success. And because the reputation of a company is one of my reasons why I think twice about buying stuff from them.
This isn't going to go well.
This isn't going to go well.
Everyone seems to be remaining civil so far. I don't know what the OP means by it being 80 bucks on steam though. It's saying 29.99 for me, unless you're including all the (pointless) DLC which hikes it up to several hundred dollars due to each expansion being between 10 and 40 bucks.

I will NOT give ea any more money now unless its an amazing sale. I believe that we as a consumer have the right to vote with our wallets. And EA has lost their loyalty with huge fanbases over and over again and I will not let go on that for any reason.
The only game I've bought on Origin is BF3, but it seemed to work fine. But in Origin I download at about 400KB/s which just can't be right..
Aren't you still giving money to EA if you buy it on Steam?

I prefer Steam over Origin. However, I would like to note the Origin client actually does a couple of things really good. For example, hey have a "Hide game" option, which is something I could really use on Steam. It also seems somewhat faster and more stable, and they have a faster network (Or maybe it simply isn't as loaded as Steam's networks). But Valve is a great company, and EA... not so much. Steam wins for me, simply because Valve has proven themselves, and because all my games are on Steam, save for Mass Effect 3.
I bought Crysis 2 on Origin... I have to constantly re-activate the key in order to download/play/get it to show up in Origin. And Crysis 2 is pretty horrible compared to the first. Plus most of EA's games are terrible, and customers don't get the advice they need ASAP. Never using it again, unless I feel like playing Crysis 2 (not likely).
is this actually a real thread
If you're saving that much money, just get it on Origin. Origin isn't as bad as people let on, in fact I've had less problems with it than Steam.
Because Origin is barely 1 year old and Steam has been around for almost 9 years? :v:
Origin of course.
I wonder what the majority of the votes are going to b-- Oh I'm shocked. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] Like, I agree with Steam being better and everything, but did you honestly expect Origin to beat out Steam on here?
If you read my other posts, I didn't expect anything.
I don't know why would anyone choose Steam, Origin has the best tech support ever and it deserves to be the winner. Picture proof of one of their best support chats:
