Surely if she fails to turn Yahoo around it's pretty much the end for them, I can't believe they're still around frankly
who the fuck uses yahoo these days
who the fuck uses yahoo these days
I do.
What are they doing that makes that much money?
What are they doing that makes that much money?
Carrying the company on their shoulders which includes putting their own reputation on the line. It is like asking why does a quarterback for a football team make so much money.
I use yahoo for spam email.
the last time i used my yahoo account was several years ago... my security was compromised and i knew it was time to say goodbye to the old and say hello to gmail
Another example of someone who gets paid too much.
Another example of someone who gets paid too much.
seriously who the hell needs more than a million per year to live imagine if they had an extra 69 million to pay all other employees with
Imagine if they had an extra 69 million to pay all other employees with
I don't think that would be very much. I would believe there are more than 69 people working there.

And they could, you know, invest it on something that improves everyone's working conditions instead of paying a single bloke that fucking much, there's a lot you can do.

What we can live with has nothing to do with it (I live in luxury with 660 dollars a month for living expenses and about 800 dollars for rent (Norway) 17,520 dollars a year). What else you could spend it on doesn't matter when the question is specifically directed at payment for the workers. Yes, by all means, 69 million isn't a small sum and it's certainly going to waste to a single person, but you also have to remember that most of these kind of positions requires you to be on your toes 24/7 and throw away most parts of your private life. The money is in a way meant to compensate for that. They are also so heavily relied on their sheer value is so high for the company that they obviously need a good salary because they are so important for the business. And when you start sharing 69 million between all the workers it's suddenly almost nothing when you look at it. I couldn't find any specifics on how many work at Yahoo so I don't have any numbers to share here that wouldn't be either overestimated or underestimated.

I doubt 90% of the people on the surface of this planet even have enough imagination to figure out where to spend all of that, it's just a gigantic waste.

Also, just a couple of million ain't much for projects, investments and so on. You can use your private money for funding projects you know. That's the reason we have Valve. It's also the reason there exists paintings that are sold for hundreds of thousands, some even for million high sums. Some villas costs you good handful of millions as well. There are a ton of things to spend several millions on because there are many people with several millions to spend.
who the fuck uses yahoo these days
I use it for email (I'm actually slowly switching over to gmail) and I like using yahoo answers.

Not sure what exactly you're defending here, but the point is, no one needs that amount of money, you can fund whatever the fuck you want with just a quarter of that, it's a waste no matter how you look at it.

I'm counter-argumenting. The amount she earns in salary is a million, something she deserves for her position, the rest is extra money from external sources. This is not money decided by the company nor controlled by the company. Also, it really isn't much money for investments. To make a very easy and RELATIVELY cheap example, look at the money it takes to make AAA games. Throwing a million or two at a AAA game is like throwing nickles and dimes.
