HDD partially toast, what program is recommended to recover files?

Well, I got home from work to find my computer unable to boot because a pesky bad sector skillfully placed itself over my partition info, thereby ruining any chance of normal recovery of the drive. I booted up a copy of Hiron's BootCD and ran testdisk, which I was able to view a console based layout of my suffering hard drive with all files I required appearing to be intact. I messed around with testdisk but didn't really figure out how to dump the contents of my hdd, so I'm looking for other alternatives. Any suggestions FP?
I don't have have any experience with data recovery, so I can only wish you luck. But I would recommend you make a backup of the drive in its current state with something low level like dd. Use a livecd so you don't alter the disk further too.
GetDataBack, should be on HirensBoot (Only works inside Windows IIRC).
