• What is the loudest component?

My PC is pretty loud, so I want to shut it the fuck up. So what is the loudest part of the computer? Is it only the case fans or are there other parts contributing to it?
Typically, only components with moving parts make noise. The only components that have moving parts are fans, hard drives, and disk drives (dvd, cd, etc.). One of the fans in your pc is most likely the culprit. A little trick I do to see what fan is making the most (noticeable) noise is just simply put my finger in the middle of each fan and gradually apply more pressure until the blades stop spinning. If the annoying sound stops, that's the fan that needs to be replaced (or slowed down). It's as simple as that. Basically, open up the case and see for yourself.
Floppy Disk Drive seeking on boot.
The speakers
I personally like the noises my computer makes, they help me sleep.
Usually the hard drives or the GPU fan.
The graphics card sometimes can cause a lot of noise..
Fans.
probably the internal combustion chambers you get used to it after a while
Case fans for me. Sometimes the hard drive.
The loudest part is a broken fan. CD drives, when reading or writing are pretty loud. Harddrives are loud when used.
Sometimes the PSU gets really loud if it's under a lot of stress. 2:40
GPU, if i turn the fan onto 100% sounds like i am living next to an airport
My case is the CoolerMaster Cosmos S, which has internal soundproofing, and the vapor-x 5870, which is a relatively quiet card. So the fans are to blame?
Usually the hard drives or the GPU fan.
if your hard drives are louder than your PSU or fans something is wrong
My GPU fan sounds like a fucking jet about to take off. But that is only under a heavy load, when not in use the fan slows down and is quiet. Everything else is fairly quiet.
I personally like the noises my computer makes, they help me sleep.
Same for me.. for some very odd reason. It's not like I keep my pc on but when I turn it off and go to bed and the fans stop spinning, it gets so quiet.. so... empty. :ohdear:
Stock fans are usally rather loud, especially if they're dusted as they turn themselfs up a lot. CPU fan, GPU fan, maybe a high-rpm case fan. CD and DVD readers can be very loud, but they have their own sound, a low pitch loud sound and accelerates and de-accelerates from time to time.
OK, I opened up the case and had a listen. I think it's actually my CPU cooler. Even though it says "quiet CPU cooler" it's pretty damn loud. Everything else sounds almost silent.
Clear the dust, it helps a lot.
The RAM card is obviously causing too much noise, you should reduce on the memory usage to fix the problem.
if your hard drives are louder than your PSU or fans something is wrong
I don't know man, if something is accessing my drive for a long period of time (installers mainly), it tends to get just a bit louder than my GPU fan. Even before I greased the damn thing to stop it from grinding the bearings.

Speakers... rest is very quite...
Fans are really loud.

My fucking faggot mouse squeaks like a fucker no matter how many times i open it, clean it, dry it, and it works fine but the FUCKING SQUEAKING MAKES ME WANT TO KILL MYSELF.
My GPU fan is really loud. It doesn't do much for temperatures either. When playing a game my graphics card temperature is at 97 degrees celcius.
