I'm interested in seeing how many actually listens to this cool genre.
I'm a quiet fan of ambients, as they're quite different from the more popular genres like trance, rock, metal, heavy, pop etc.
Ambients are usually quieter, calming and if done right, astoundingly beautiful. usually instrumental though, i think they're awesome soundtracks for YOUR life. When walking on the streets, sitting in subways, browsing through FP or anything else like that, ambients are a cool music to play on the background.
Of course, ambient has it's sub-genres like experimental ambient, dark ambient etc.
Some examples i know personally (You can post other good songs if you know any):

I wouldn't say its ambient, but thats, just, like, my opinion, man.
I'm not sure if you'll consider this ambient music but I sure enjoy listening to Nujabes. It has a hip hop jazzy feel to it. Feels good to listen to it after a long day. Some of his songs were used in Samurai Champloo.
