So right now, i'm surfing the web and everything is ok. But every time i want to play a multiplayer game, my game lags out when i connect to a new server or a new host (in this case call of duty: modern warfare 2). Does anyone know how to fix this? I sometimes get a tiny bit of lag for a split second when i play MW2 on my 360, but on my PC this happens, and it's stopping me from playing my games.
Are you on a network?
A home network yes. PAINT DIAGRAM TIME!

That probably confused the hell out of you so here's how it works. The wire comes in from wherever the internets come from, into the modem which is linked up to the router, the router has a wire that goes straight down into the switch, that splits it to the media pc's down in the basement and the home network pc. The router is a wireless router, so that transmits a signal to my pc upstairs and my mother and my sisters laptops.

Also the router has a wire straight to the xbox.

Whoops i should've drawn an ethernet cable from the router to the switch.
Any body?
Everything can disturb ur Wlan signal.
It can be cables in the wall,
it can be ur radio controled clock,
it can be TVS,
It can be ur sat receiver,
-> What u can do is turn all tvs off (not standby) and whatever u else have that is Radio controled or "wireless" controlled and try again
Or your internet just sucks ...
Im going to try moving the modem next to the router, and im going to try getting a new wireless card if that doesn't work. Also speedtest:
