Ubisoft has wisely stepped away from its universally-disliked 'always-on' DRM scheme recently, and Future Soldier will only require you be online for a "one-time production registration at first launch" through your Uplay account. "From that point on," Ubisoft said in a press release, "no permanent connection is required, except for online modes."
Maybe a hope? A shimmering light at the end of the tunnel?
Maybe Ubi is finally changing for the better?
I'm apparently in the beta for getting Splinter Cell Conviction. Is the beta out yet?
I'm proud of you Ubi. Take pride in the thought that you're one of the few companies that is starting to yank its head out of its ass when it comes to PC games.

B) Why are you praising a company for ceasing a practice which they should never have done in the first place?
As opposed to what, refusing to acknowledge change as a good thing? Granted, Ubi should be ostracized for previous practices, but what you said implies that we should scorn them for trying to move along. Why?
Dice got rid of prone in BC2, but re-added it in BF3. So does that mean I can't be happy they added it back because it should have always been there in the first-place. Seems silly.
I still don't have any plans to buy or pirate it, Ubisoft's games are shitty and they hate their customers.
Everything after the first Ghost Recon (and its expansions) has been abysmal in my opinion.

Watch them back out of it and giving it The Worst DRM Ever.

That'll be the next game, after nobody buys this one because it's a turd and Ubisoft blames pirates for their shitty sales.
I hope they know I'm not going to use Uplay if this game isn't on Steam.
Just like how I have yet to use Origin for EA's games.
Where does it say we should scorn them? What I'm saying is that they shouldn't be praised or celebrated for the fact they're fixing horrible acts which should have never been done in the first place. Yes, it's good that they are cleaning up and it's a nice change to see; but at the same time it should never have been done in the first place and it does NOT magically excuse them of their past actions.
Ubisoft has been treating their customers like absolute trash. Why should I think otherwise of them?
I agree, and fair enough. I think the word praise has too strong of a connotation in this sense. I don't think anyone is praising them, but rather cheering on the change. It's about damn time systems like these are dropped (assuming Ubi actually follows its word).
