• Router still fucked up

+ Devices can see the router (named mcfloppy) + Devices cannot connect to the router despite being able to see it + Sometimes my iPod can connect to the router for 1-3 hour periods + No idea how to fix What do I do? My router is a Belkin F6D4230-4. I remember this happening shortly after I tried to forward ports for a minecraft server, yet restoring to factory settings yields no results. [editline]8th August 2011[/editline] Just managed to get online, internet running extremely slow though. Will probably cut out any time from now to an hour's time. Managed to get online by changing SSID, which works 1/20ish times. Otherwise, it just says 'Unable to join network "dickbutt" '
have you tried upgrading the firmware, if possible? [editline]7th August 2011[/editline] and doing a full reset?
Firmware is at latest version. By full reset, do you mean reinstalling the router and restoring to factory settings? If so, I've done that.
Do you get the same problem by connecting to the router with ethernet cables?
Do you get the same problem by connecting to the router with ethernet cables?
No. Anything attached with an ethernet cable works normally, like PC, PS3 etc. I *CAN* get wireless to work, however only in short, useless bursts.
Hmm this is kind of farfetched, but is there anything else that could interfere near your home (anything that happens/functions at certain intervals)? Also what is the signal strength? Usually anything below 30% is very unstable and will drop out a lot.
Signal strength is good, perfect around most of the house. No matter how close I am to the router, the same problem occurs. I don't think there's anything else that could interfere (like microwaves and shit).
Is the antenna loose? Have you tried changing the wireless protection key?
I've changed the key several times, no dice. I don't THINK the antenna's loose, because when I do pick up wifi, the signal's strong and I can see the network (but it says 'unable to join network')
No. Anything attached with an ethernet cable works normally, like PC, PS3 etc. I *CAN* get wireless to work, however only in short, useless bursts.
change the channel you're broadcasting on. you should be able to select channels 1-11. start by trying with channel 1.
How old is it?
Judging by you being in the UK, the best signals for you to try (from my own testing) is channel 6, or 11.
It's about 6 months old. I've managed to get it working on cdlink14's advice, however I fear it may die again.
Judging by you being in the UK, the best signals for you to try (from my own testing) is channel 6, or 11.
I wouldn't bother testing 6, everyone is always on channel 6 which disturbs your own communications.
It's about 6 months old. Channel 6 and 11 are the most stable I have found which hardly fluctuate.
Well 6 is working for me at the moment, thanks cdlink :buddy:
Ok cool, when you do a wireless can you also detect any other wifi routers (such as your neighbours)?
Yeah, I can. Crap, just said 'unable to join' again. Trying channel 6 and 11, no dice.
Try setting a different channel to that of your neighbours.
