Not even sure what the answer is since it sounds like a question dodge. What I gather from the question is that "People won't buy a Diablo I remake" since he talks about how he wants to share the Diablo I experience with as many people as possible.
Oh, That's easy!
People have invested their time into Diablo 3 and if you can play your diablo 3 character in diablo 1 then they will be able to experience the game without having to start a new character.
