Actually i had quite a bit of fun with this and they just updated the game with new weapons, mapredesigns and other improvement.

i still play the mod occasionally, how does this compare to it?

Pretty good actually, graphics are a lot better and the equipment system has been completely reworked (instead of fixed classes you now have three armor types and an in-match progression system), but the majority of the gameplay mechanics have been left pretty much the same or improved on, only real downside over the mod is it's lacking in content since it's not as finished.
Also the ragdolls seem to glitch out more than they used to, which is actually pretty funny.
I fucking love the aiming system in this game, the bullets don't go straight at the center of your screen with a cone to simulate inaccuracy, there's a little bounding box you can aim around in that feels much more natural than shooting straight down the middle all the time
