• What is the best way to dispose of tropical fish and what could I replace them with?

I have a 25 gallon tropical fish tank (around 39.5 inches long, 11.5 wide and 15 high) that is currently overrun by diesease and algi, the fish are stubborn though and are still alive, though I doubt they will survive many more months. What is the best way to dispose of the fish, if there is one. Once the fishtank is totally empty and cleaned, I want to transform it into another aquarium possibly with crabs or other amphibious things or just a tropical fish aquarium again (taking more care with setting it up and such), has anyone got suggestions on either of these things?
You know, you could always take the fish out of the tank and clean it and give them a better way of life! just a thought....
Tried many times, the fish seem to be carrying whatever it is destroying the system, so wherever they are put or whatever we do to the tank it comes back, it takes about 1 week for the glass to be completely covered in dark green algi so thick you can't see the fish...
Thats a shame, hate seeing animals suffer even if it is fish!, i dont think there are any real ways to dispose of fish most people would say just flush them down the toliet but its rather inhumane if you ask me depending on how many fish you have you could aways bury them, its what i did with my fish!!
There's roughly a dozen small fish left so just flushing them down the toilet is too inhumane, if there were less it might be a different story, and not quite sure how buring live fish would be any better than flushing...
I guess, felt to me like a more dignified end to me just be sure you put something over them so cats cant get to them!.
