• DVD-R Drive not Spinning/Reading

I was about to reinstall Fallout 3 when my discdrive woudn't start. at first I though the disc was bad, so I tied my (Never Used, installed via steam) Copy of L4D, it didn't work either. several more attemps latter, I relized the disc drive wasn't spinning at all. Any suggestion? Heres what I have tried so far. -Deleting Upper And Lower Registry Filter -Unplugging it, Booting up, Shutting Down, and plugging it back it. -Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. -leaving it unplugged for the night, and plugging it in in the morning. -Removing Starforce -Removing Securom My only theory is that my huge-ass 9600 is taking to much power (The last time I used the drive is before I installed it) and it doesn't have a enough power to boot up. but it's a 500W W/ 2 12V Rails. My only backup is out in my old computer, and it might not work either. My disc Drive is a genrric pos (pre-built for walmart lol), but it reads fast enough and never had problems before this. The worst part is that I was planning on doing a clean install latter that day, but thats now impossible.
Shouldn't be the graphics card, my drive works fine with my 9600 gt I think a lighting could have fried it, or it's broken in some way and the best way is to buy a new one (they are cheap)
Oh, I guess I should add that it still opens and while open the light comes on, and closes properly.
Whenever this happens where I work we always conduct a few tests like you've done and do what you didn't do which is test and alternative drive. If it doesn't work remove the graphics card and try then. If your theory is correct I'd upgrade the PSU quickly.
hot wire your psu and connect only your cd drive, see if it spins 500W should be ok, maybe if it isn't too old. Yea, forget that, buy yourself a liteON or w/e dvd/cd drive from newegg free shipping ~20$
