Just put professional on about a week ago in fear of windows deleting itself.
Yeah, did it this week. can't remember the exact change date, but it's the most smooth upgrade I've ever done. From RC to 7600. Even the drivers are working without reinstalling them!
Doing so right now. Should I opt for the "Install latest updates from microsoft.com option?"
I don't know if there are scary things in there I wouldn't want to install or that would fuck over my installed programs.

I don't think it will give you a problem.

There's been a few issues from MS updates before but it's really not any different than turning on updates for say, Firefox.
yeah i did last week.
I upgraded at about 10 days left. Aside from the reinstalls I had to do right after I upgraded, I've had no issues.
I upgraded about three hours ago. Had two freezes after installation, turns out it was the Nvidia drivers which were old, so I updated those and now it works like a charm.
did an upgrade to ultimate 7 64 bit, running very nicely
I am having trouble upgrading, have a download through a UK University scheme that gives me a free copy of Windows 7 but every time I try and download it I end up with a corrupt copy. Currently running build 7100 until I get it sorted even though it restarts every 2 hours.
I upgraded my laptops about a month ago, upgraded my last system today.
I still haven't upgraded, but I did set the system clock to 1999. :smug:

For what reason? WGA looks at the install date and if the current date is before the install date it marks Windows as non genuine.

Set it to the day you installed it then. :v:
No, but, really, why would you bother doing such a thing
I set the date back, my favorite store is out of copies and I'd prefer not to resort to pirate it.

Why? Both are working around copy protection schemes, if it's a moral issue you're still in the wrong.
Either way, I find it funny that changing the date actually matters, seeing how the OS is the one you're interacting with to change it in the first place...
The only time you can workaround the date configuration is if you reset the BIOS date to the compile date, reformat the whole HDD, then install it. Even then you only get 30 days with no updates. Which I don't think even that works anymore.

Pirating it brings the chance of it containing a virus/trojan, not to mention you have to download the entire thing.

That's why I said "if it's a moral issue". I don't really condone OS pirating.
