Anyways to the question at hand. HL3 by Naught Dog would be shit. HL3 by anyone else but Valve would be shit.
As much as Valve hasnt done anything with HL in years, they are the only company id trust not fucking it up.
If people are really concerned about the wait for HL3, might as well set your sights specifically on the Source 2 release date.

I don't think it's about hating naughty dog, but they're style of game design is terrible for half-life.

Developing Source 2 was their main priority since 2010. Now that it's almost finished Half Life 3 can't be that far away.
