My laptop has gotten so hot it has melted the Charger.

Seriously, the jack that goes into the back of it, has slightly melted and some of the silver has turned to black. This is obviously due to the laptop getting severely hot over the last day or so. Should I get a new one?

Are there any alternatives of charging it without the original charger for the time leading up to when I buy a new one?

You could try opening the laptop to see if there's any dust build up and clean it, which could reduce the heat. Also check BIOS settings for options to do with the fan.
