• Unused lines in Cat 5

I'm trying to fix a temporary solution where I need to power several IP cameras which do not support PoE. Right now I power them using extension cords. My old boss found out that there was unused lines in the Cat 5/5e spec so when he ran his ethernet cable and crimped the ends, he left two leads out for ground and +12V. Thing is I never asked him what the lines and all the pinouts I find online now assume you are using gigabit wiring methods which uses all the lines. Anyone here a bit more knowledged in this?
http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/ethernetcables.html has info on which are unused [editline]15th February 2012[/editline] mostly this section: but it seems like it may cause some interference.
I seriously hope that 12volt power supply has a very clean output. EDIT: If you wanna follow the standards, then pin 4 & 5 is DC+ and pin 7 & 8 is DC- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet#Notes

Though having too many or too high of a rated inductor can increase the line capacitance and cause the voltage to be higher than it should be.
