• Internet lagspikes, cannot find reason

Recently I have been getting drops on my internet, both on and off LoL. That means I can be playing like a boss until I get a 3-5 second lagspike that causes me to stand still so all my enemies can kill me. Can anyone please tell me what could be causing this? I have 2 friends sitting next to me on the same network, but they don't have the problem. I have tried wired and wireless connection, and it still happens.
Can you be more specific on the games (or if its a lan) and router you have.
I have a new Netgear router called N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router WNDR3700v2. I didn't have any problems with it until the last couple of weeks. The biggest problem is when playing League of Legends, everything stops for a few seconds, which can lead to the worst of things happening. It has a big impact on the game.
Well then it's a local problem then. Try opening up device manager, deleting your ethernet drivers (though that's not likely to solve the problem since it happens regardless of the connection) It seems most likely to be a piece of rouge software eating up the connection. Or rather, some software that you don't realize is running. Try closing as many things as possible before testing again. And perhaps make a Hijackthis log.
