I'm extremely sorry to say this as I have much respect for that man.

But it is more of a public relations scheme rather than helping people directly. He talks about people who are suicidal, and compares his situation and mocks them of it.

Not nice to mock sadness.

He is pretty much saying you should love life because it is short. Yes those people are sad but it could be a lot worse aka his situation. I totally agree with him. It is fine to be sad because its just human emotion but don't let it get to you.

I love the sentement no doubt. But there needed to be something better rather than mocking the sad.

It seems quite threatening rather than encouraging that suicide doesn't cause relief.

In fact it may do the opposite. It may start a new chain of thoughs something alike "My life is much better than his, but I still feel so sad about it though I really shouldn't, I'm such a coward and a pussy I don't deserve to live", and that's not a good thing.

I think part of his speech was that committing suicide isn't worth it, i do not think he was trying to cause controversy. And it shouldn't have.
