Alright guys, I'm saving up for a computer and going to have around 1200 dollars in January for it. I know, I know. I should just make the thread then but I've been thinking a lot about it recently. PCU: Intel i7 920 GPU: 2 GeForce GTX 260 RAM: 4GB of OCZ PC3-10666 PSU: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4256920&Sku=K450-2508 MoBo: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4914874&Sku=I69-2200 Hard-Drive: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4426054&Sku=TSD-1000EADS I'm gonna salvage an optical drive, and I'll look for a case later. My issue is: Should I get two GTX 260s or get a 5850? (I'm using TigerDirect because I'm planning to buy in-store.)
Terrible for a gaming computer. More like CAD shit. Get an i5 and a 5870, if you're doing gaming (which I assume you are, since you're wanting to use SLI) [editline]04:56AM[/editline] also, sidenote: i7 9xx requires triple channel, as in 3 GB, 6 GB, 12 GB, etc.
Thanks, for the info. How much ram do you think I'll need? What's wrong with SLIing the GTX 260s? Is the MoBo okay?
Please please can I use newegg? Tigerdirect is a bitch to navigate [editline]04:00AM[/editline] I will build you something if you let me use newegg
You can use NewEgg.

A single card fares much better. 5850 or 5870.

I can find these things on tigerdirect then link it back, one sec.
No 5850 on TD either
So I have to order them from the ATI website? Or find a place that will sell them in-store?
Well they're getting them back in stock in around 1-2 weeks for the ASUS cards and 3-4 weeks for XFX and Sapphire here in the UK. Don't know if it's the same in Canada. [editline]04:24AM[/editline] Maybe your tiny independent computer store will still have a few in stock.
wait til jan when the i9's are out
