I'm downloading mass effect on steam and the download speed has an average of 431 KB/s.
I am using a BT HomeHub. Is this a good speed?
Average for BT at peek time i suppose. What package are you one with BT?

LOL I still have A/DSL, which is 256kb/s. Most of the time I get a 56kb/s download. I only buy games when I go away for the weekend!
Seems pretty average/good for this country.

What?
Although sometimes I get lucky and get an 80-90kb/s speed, but its never hit 100kb/s.
You get more than you've paid for.

You be a lucky one I am stuck at 150KB/s at the max. Although I am upgrading to 5 megabit soon. Also op they is fairly good for where I live but it really depends on where you live and I guessing Britain so it is decent.
I changed from BT where I was getting a maximum of about 400kb/s to Virgin where I can get
downloads of up to 2.5mb/s about two months ago. I'm paying about 4 quid more, that's value for money.

ISP companies tell you what you're going to be paying for based on the bit, not byte. Bytes are larger than bits, hence your low download speeds.

What the hell your upload rate is faster than your download?

12MBit down can't do 2.5MB/s.
Seems people disagree with my statement earlier, but I still maintain it's a decent speed compared to the rest of the UK's abysmal internet.
