"Thanks for the 30%"
"More or less finished", he says...

Really?

Why would it matter to them? It's a game. They sold it as unfinished. They updated it and tried to finish it and ran out of money. That happens all the time even in traditional ventures. All parties behaved as expected IMO.

They didn't run out of money, though. They just weren't making enough money to care about it. Problem is, they sold a beta, and never got out of beta.

Which is the problem with early access. The developers already got their money, why should they keep working on it? It is pretty obvious that they lost any desire to work on their game when they already got the reward.

I feel so on the fence about selling in beta because I have a feeling that this is the beginning of games on early access that are going to simply halt development.

Why bother finishing your game when you've already got the cash? The only incentive that makes them finish their games is fear of a PR backlash.
Garry wrote a good blog post about this.
That minecraft mod had a lot of potential though

If they get the money they stop working on it and if they don't then they also stop working on it.

Why woukd you admit to this? He just said hey dont buy anything from me, because i will not finish it.
