Stupid idea but it looks a little cool
However, I am not going to buy this game. The coop ruins the scary part of it altogether

Dont forget the Dodge rolling also.
But that looks just like a simple reskin, doesn't look good at all.

Then don't coop
what a concept!
Honestly this looks really ugly, its obvious they just threw it in last minute.

looks remodelled to me lmao
That armor looks supremely ugly.
This game seems like a real let down. They took the whole "lost in space alone" survival idea and threw it out the window.

Ouch, this is just the Security Suit from Dead Space 2 reskinned and model changed a bit.
Besides, Dead Space 2 lost the scare factor about halfway through for me (until they brought in [sp]the Ubermorph, ouch[/sp]) when you started to have a ton of weapons. It could be that I was playing on Casual, but is taking the horror to a side aspect really that bad? Hopefully the game will start getting more creepy as you go through, to ease in the new players. Would have been interesting to see how this would have turned out if EA hadn't tried to "extend the audience" with it.

If he's in an airtight space suit why does he have an animation to cover his face in the wind?

i'm gettin' lost planet vibes from this
heavy lost planet vibs
its like slow paced lost planet
(...)but is taking the horror to a side aspect really that bad?
In a horror series? Yes. Imo anyway.
In a horror series? Yes. Imo anyway.
lol no it's not. dead space has never been truly scary, just grotesque and atmospheric. ds3 looks also to be grotesque and atmospheric. therefore i'm pretty confident it'll be a very enjoyable follow-up to the previous two games.
anyone who pretends ds3 is somehow going to kill a great horror franchise needs to remove their heads from the asses and actually try playing ds1 and 2.

To keep the snow out of his visor.

Look at Fear 3. The introduction of co-op completely killed any scary atmosphere it had, even in single player.
I'm sorry, I can understand people complaining about the change of environment and action, but people who hate the game because of coop are just retarded. The developers are making the game so you can play it solo or with a friend.
Look at Fear 3. The introduction of co-op completely killed any scary atmosphere it had, even in single player.
But FEAR 3 was just shitty in all departments. It did not have any atmosphere and the gameplay was not that good.

Fear 3 wasn't bad because it had coop, it was bad because it was a bad game.
How about we wait for DS3 to come out before judging it based on prior experiences playing awful games?
Look at Fear 3. The introduction of co-op completely killed any scary atmosphere it had, even in single player.
ok same concept. fear 1 and 2 were not horror games either. they incorporated horror elements, but the "scary little girl" served more as a mascot for the franchise than anything. "atmospheric" and "dark" do not immediately equal horror. (also neither of them were scary at all. fear 1 had a fucking skeleton jump out at you, it was pure, albeit straight-faced, schlock.)
fear 3 was a lot of fun, and imo a decent continuation of the franchise. i have complaints about it (too short, questionable pacing) but it in no way killed the franchise's "scary atmosphere" because it was never scary.
why is this getting rated dumb when tf2 gets promo items far more unfitting than this every 3 weeks

Yeah, I seriously don't get the people saying "It's not scary because coop". Thats bullshit, I have actually wanted a coop horror game for the longest time. Me and my friend play shitty scare maps in Gmod sometimes and, although they are shitty, they have in the past manage to instill that sense of fear and tension as such you might find in Dead Space 1 or 2. Besides, it's entirely optional, so that has nothing to do with anything. On the other hand, I haven't tried the demo but I have watched it played through to the end, and I can definitely say in my own opinion that it's incredibly shit. The most scares were necromorphs popping out of the snow. Really? Jump scares? It's nothing more than an action game at this point, and I'm pretty sure EA said that themselves some time ago.
It's not really Dead Space anymore, more like Mass Gears of Duty Space. IMO.

yes. jump scares. you know, the exact same kind of jump scares that were literally EVERYWHERE in ds1 and 2? THOSE jump scares?
remember how bioshock 2 wasn't really scary anymore but it was still fucking awesome
I think both DS1 and DS2 were good at what they were: action horror-games. Not every horror-game needs to be amnesia or something that focuses purely on horror (although those are games that I personally prefer).

Heh
remember how bioshock 2 wasn't really scary anymore but it was still fucking awesome
The only awesome part was the gameplay, everything else was pretty terrible.
Dead Space could have been a scary franchise honestly if they didnt take the action route, which is why I think people are mad and hate DS3, you could already see this becoming apparent in DS2.
Im sure the game is going to be fun, but its going to be shit at the same time.
Also dodge rolling.
It looks like a really simple addition of the N7 emblem onto a re-skin of the Security Guard armor from DS2. Hopefully this is just a place-holder. If not, then this is just a really cheap way to grab fans of Mass Effect.
yes. jump scares. you know, the exact same kind of jump scares that were literally EVERYWHERE in ds1 and 2? THOSE jump scares?
Yes, but at the same time you were in a dark, enclosed space with no clue what was going to be around the next corner, and you know, all the shit that actually made Dead Space scary. Granted, I can't really say anything for DS3 yet because it's JUST a demo as of now, but the demo relies solely on jump scares is what I was saying. At the very least, it doesn't make me very hopeful for the full game.
It looks pretty good, it's not shiny or too mass effect-y or anything.
Look at Fear 3. The introduction of co-op completely killed any scary atmosphere it had, even in single player.
I've never played FEAR 3 but I'm fairly certain its coop was forced like in Resident Evil 5, if so DS3 is completely different from what you're thinking of and will be nothing like that

It looks better than the Battlefield 3 Soldier multiplayer class in ME3.
ie human soldier painted black with orange paint just thrown on it's side. looks hideous.
