Budget: I currently have £75 and will most likely get around £150 for my upcoming birthday. So I'm looking for something less than £225 (preferably around £150ish, unless the difference in quality is HUGE for the extra money)
Here are my current specs;
Mobo = MSI H61M-E33 (MS-7680)
Graphics Card = AMD Radeon HD 6770
RAM = 4GB DDR3 RAM
CPU = Intel i3 2100 3.1 GHz
PSU = Corsair CX600
Hard Drives = 500GB Seagate, a 2TB Western Digital and a 1TB External HD
I'm looking for something that will, if possible, noticeably improve my gaming experience.
Would I be better off going for an i5 processor or a new graphics card? (presuming those are the best things to go for)
Thanks in advance for any advice.
The issue with recommending an upgrade is that it's hard to tell if upgrading just your CPU or GPU won't lead to the other one bottlenecking, and you don't have money for both
I would get an i5 3570 myself, however, as it should be an improvement for general desktop tasks even if your GPU prevents any major gaming gains. It'll probably take longer before the i5 is obsolete than any GPU you can get around the 150 pound mark, too.
After you've got a good processor, you can begin thinking about saving up for something along the lines of a R9 270 (or 270X or radeon HD 7890 / 7870 if the price is cheaper, as the performance difference is insignificant). The preferred GPU upgrade will probably change by the time you've saved up the money, so getting a second opinion then wouldn't hurt

Yeah my friend suggested the same thing, just wanted to get multiple opinions on it.
So why the I5-3570 specifically? Looking on Amazon there seem to be infinite amounts of i5's, they all look the same to me but differ greatly in price.
What's the difference between the I5-3570 and i5 4670 for example?
EDIT: Also it looks like for £6 more I can get the i5-3570K, whats the difference between that and i5-3570?

Your motherboard uses the H61 chipset, this means that it also uses the 1155 socket for CPUs, so the 4670 wouldn't work (which uses 1150). And since it isn't the Z77 chipset, it won't have the ability to overclock (which the K version is made for).
Don't upgrade the cpu, with your budget there will be little performance increase and will leave no money to upgrade the gpu

Except for the bottlenecking the cpu might cause?
Upgrade the CPU, GPU later.

What. The 7970 (and 7950) is far superior performance wise to the 270, and 270X for that matter, the 7970 has been rebranded as the 280X.
Back to the topic, I'd grab a R9 270 which is just a lower binned 270x. Your i3 will not bottleneck is most games yet, but for your next upgrade you should definitely upgrade your CPU and motherboard.

Goddamnit i keep writing the wrong numbers when it comes to the HD series
Except for the bottlenecking the cpu might cause?
Upgrade the CPU, GPU later.
Then there will be no performance difference
An i3 with a 7790 won't cause a fucking bottleneck
The 7790 is cheaper than the i3

Stop suggesting to keep a cheap($75), outdated gpu and upgrade a fucking i3
take a chill pill

Don't suggest stupid shit
Jesus
God damn, you seriously need an attitude readjustment.
You go into these threads acting like your opinion is the word of god, and no one else is right except you. It doesn't help that you've only joined this month and so far, not show any sort of credibility on your part.
Go ahead and get a 4670 and update the GPU later, you can probably get an r9 270 or something later.

Holy fucking shit
OP get a new card first

You're acting like the cpu is the most important part of a pc
You're suggesting to get a cpu then a gpu that costs less than the cpu
Jesus man, aiming for another ban?
Except it is?
It's probably 2nd most important right under motherboard, you seriously can't have a PC if there's no CPU, but you can still wait on a GPU if there's an internal one, like what the 4670 has.

For gaming the gpu is FAR more important.
Of course you need one just like you need memory or any other part
The 4670k has garbage graphics no where close to the 6770

I believe he was saying to buy a CPU that is actually good and use the integrated graphics until he can afford a good GPU as well, so that way he has an all around great build.
Also, he wasn't saying to use the integrated graphics forever....
So just use the 6770 until you can get a better GPU?
I don't think you understand money management, because even then the 270 is a mid-range graphics card, and you can buy a top-dollar CPU (which is very important for gaming go ahead and buy some shitty $80 cpu and then buy a gtx 780 ti and get back to me on that tyvm) for the money you could spend on a 270.

And I don't want anything shit-covered because you really like talking out of your ass.

build a great computer without the GPU use either the 6770 or integrated and buy a good GPU a little bit down the road...How is that stupid. It's stupid to build a mediocre build just to have it all at once, take your time and get something worth a damn.

No, I suggested getting a 4670 and then saving up to get a better GPU.
Do you also even know what citing means? Your source for that CPU doesn't matter at all for gaming came from you?
Does that mean no one should listen to you?
Also how is a 4670 and an R9 270 unbalanced?

You got a $220 cpu and a $180 gpu...
From my understanding cite=quote

No, cite means provide the source you got the information from.
If you don't even understand that then I don't know why you're suggesting PC parts because it's really clear you have no idea what you're talking about.
Also how is that unbalanced still? After all, according to you, the CPU doesn't matter for gaming!
I suggested to get the 4670 and wait to buy a GPU and just use the 6770, then buy like a 770 or something.

I'd rather get something that's gonna really improve framerate
I think i know what you mean
oh i know what you mean
like a better cpu right?
