• RMA'd 9800gtx+, got back a GTS 250

My question is which card is better. I don't want to be getting ripped off here. I took a look at the clock speeds and I just want to get your opinion facepunch. Both are the OC 1GB versions.
A GTS 250 is just a rebranded 9800 GTX+ with minor differences, like for the fact that GTS 250 has a native HDMI port and the 9800 GTX+ dosen't.
They're the same card. [editline]08:26PM[/editline] fffff ninja
9800 GTX+ also uses slightly less power. I think it's a 9 watt difference, but that's insignifigant.
Could you SLI the two?
That's a question I was going to ask FP myself, but hold on, let me do some research. [editline]08:32PM[/editline] Apparantly yes, you can.
wasn't the GTS 250 just a rebranded 9800GTX+ but be smaller and more energy efficient or something? I know it's basically the same card with some minor differences Performancewise it is a 9800GTX+ though
Stick with it.

And they both have the same preformance, unless if you're using a monitor through HDMI. The native HDMI on the GTS 250 would be better to use.
fuck ninja'd but I have sauce http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=17411&page=3 Top is a 9800, bottom is a 250 oh and the 250 only uses one power connector
You're right about the size, though. But size dosen't really matter when even Mid-Towers are increasing in size.
There are some benefits to GPU continuity. As you can see in a couple of the pictures above, the GTS 250 retains the dual SLI connectors present on the 9800 GTX, and Nvidia says the GTS 250 will willingly participate in an SLI pairing alongside a GeForce 9800 GTX+ of the same memory size. Unfortunately, though, 512MB and 1GB cards will not match, and Nvidia's drivers won't treat a 1GB card as if it were a 512MB card for the sake of multi-GPU cross-compatibility, like AMD's will.
http://techreport.com/articles.x/16504
Thank you sir.
Thank you sir.
NP. Remember that the cards must have the same ammount of memory for it to work, though.
Yup, both cards I have are 1GB variants.
you can flash the bios on a 9800GTX and make it a 250
you can flash the bios on a 9800GTX and make it a 250
Is that necessary to SLI them? If not, is there a big difference if you don't flash it?
No, it's not necessary for it to be SLI'd with a GTS 250. And no, there's not a big difference.

GTS 250 uses less power and only needs one power cable
