Australians.
Also releasing an unfinished game, in my mind that's what they are doing.

Add the rest via future content packs
Is this some kind of early acess? You get basic content after release? At least its free

Maybe they were originally planning to sell it as paid DLC but reconsidered it after all the backslash on release.

You have way too much faith in EA.
I doubt it
If they were PLANNING on releasing it as s patch, why didn't they just say so and save themselves so much heartache? Hmm...
You have way too much faith in EA.
No I'm just not an idiot.

Considering how much free content was given in Sims 3, I doubt it.
Also the fact that shortly after everyone pissed their pants they came as close as they possibly could to outright confirming them to be returning as free content.
But no, EA's just evil and all of their motivations have ulterior intentions.
Giving us a couple of half-assed outfits that the modding community could have shat out in a day with some proper modding tools, and a basic feature of the game that didn't make the final cut in time for release date doesn't erase the otherwise abominable business model that EA employs with The Sims games. When they give us pets, businesses, vacations, all the missing careers, all the life states, weather, seasons, universities, and everything else they've already stripped and resold us three times, then I will reconsider my stance on EA as an "evil" company. Until then, I'll just continue not buying their shit.
What's insane is expecting me to shell out $500+ on the same game they've already made three times. Their business model is to sell a barely completed game for full price, and then sell the rest of the features back piece by piece in full priced expansion packs until the game becomes so bloated that it barely runs and so expensive that nobody will continue paying for it. Then to restart the cycle with a new base game. It'd be somewhat excusable if these expansion packs were delivering new content, but the bulk of it is the same recycled junk we've seen with every iteration.

You really dont think that was a huge possibility?
You really dont think that was a huge possibility?
I really don't.
If you look at the way the handled additional content in Sims 3, it was pretty likely they'd add this for free, either in a standalone update, or a patch to the base game along with an expansion. The "huge possibility" of it being sold was just typical EA paranoia.

We get it, you aren't a Sims fan. You do this in just about every Sims-related thread that pops up.
The Sims 4 is using its Force powers to bring in some Star Wars themed customization options.
Sounds like Force Sensitivity could have been a fun attribute to level up. With the direction Sims has been going into Sci-Fi and Fantasy they might as well have added it

I know the hate boner for EA is strong with you guys
but they have done this shit for ages, they always release stuff that "should have been base" for free in patches post-launch
they werent going to shill you, they just didn't care about pools for launch, nor does anyone else except for you guys who need to perpetuate the whole EA IS EVIL thing

Is that some great crime?
Why couldn't they have just said "pools aren't coming in the base game, but we'll add them in a free update" when they made the initial announcement? That could've prevented the whole shitstorm happening in the first place.
Unless they were planning to keep us waiting and sell them to us later, but decided otherwise because of the backlash...
Is that some great crime?
Well it's already been discussed. This thread should be about the new stuff that's being added this month, not EA's incredibly successful business model. That's been what every EA thread ends up being about, and we never get to discuss the actual news.

If I were to guess, it'd be that, if they promised it, and then some shit happened and they couldn't deliver on that promise, there'd be hell to pay

It's not so much that they're money-minded business cheapskates (they are, but that's beside the point) but the fact that they play moves like this so the average consumer will look at it as "WOW EA IS AMAZING LOOK AT THE FREE CONTENT" and everyone knows that every further complaint with EA will be returned from them with "But we do listen to our consumers! We care so much about you!"
Then they rake in the cash when said unassuming people shell money out for their expansions and other cash cows because they're tricked into thinking they're paying a responsive, friendly developer. The fact that this shit came so quickly after release and for free makes it even more clear that it's just a business thing.
EA is bendable, they are beginning to realize that it is the wallet that controls ea, not ea that controls the wallet.
