• 3 Sticks of ram?

I know its good to have 2 sticks of ram in your 1-3 or 2-4, and I have that. But I just realized that I'm an idiot and have 1 good 1gb stick of ram left over from my older computer. I really have two of them, but I think one of them is broken, causing crashes and whatnot. I currently have 2gb, so another 1gb could help. So, would it still help to plug it in or wouldn't help at all? They're these: http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-ddr2-pc2-6400-sli-ready-edition-dual-channel-eol.html
It'll work but it'll be less efficient without a partner. They get sad on their own.
use 3 lose dual channel
If your motherboard is dual channel it's going to work 50% slower (down on the technical level) But you probably won't notice it.
Dual channel makes the memory bus twice as wide (64 to 128 bit), not twice as fast. Depending on the timings of the sticks, you'll get anywhere from a ~5% to ~25% boost in bandwidth throughput, not double.
Hey guys I got lucky, turns out my sticks have life time warranty!

By the way OP, if it's ganged, you may wanna get one last stick. I believe you'll need an even number of dimms to enable dual channel mode. It could depend on your mobo though, what do you have?
