• Looking to buy Core 2 Duos and Pentium D's

Basically what the title says. My school needs 775 processors, so I want to help out. If you have a Core 2 Duo or Pentium D you are willing to part with for a low-ish amount of money, let me know, thanks! Dumbs? Really? You guys are heartless.
Uh don't schools get funding from the government/tuitions for the supplies they need? Or is it an extracurricular thing?
-snip-
Why do you need to get these for your school? You can most likely find 775 processors at one source, and the school might get a discount, as it is an educational institution. Edit: You might be able to get that many processors new from a company that sells to businesses, as they usually sell products in large quantities. IF you want them used, it's gonna take a lot of searching.
Maybe he goes to a private school, but yeah that's kind of weird for a school to ask a student to get CPUs for computers.
Private school, low low low funding, the computer room teacher has to buy ALL upgrades himself and get donations and I really want to help our Animation class because they are working on single core Celeron D's at 2.8ghz and Gefore 2 MX's, but they are amazingly good and doing really good work and deserve better. I donated a bunch of Geforce 210's and 9400GT's but the motherboards are AGP so we are upgrading everything now. Also my maximum is around $60-$80 for a C2D and $30 for a Pentium D. Teacher and I put up half and half, and neither of us have too much money so we need to get things for as cheap as possible. They aren't asking me to get them, I want to make things better for my fellow students. They deserve so much better than what they have. So if anyone is willing to help, please let me know. [editline]8th March 2011[/editline] Celeron dual cores are also doable, I'd do $40 for them, if you got them.
I'd give you my Athlon II X2 Regor 250, but it's of course AM3 :saddowns:
Well we are going to get new motherboards eventually so AM3 CPU's are acceptable too, we just can't use them right away. If anyone is willing to part with LGA 775 or Socket AM3 motherboards that would work, too, because we also need those. Only condition is we need PCIe x16 for the graphics cards.
I have an E5600 for you. You don't have to pay anything for it, just it may take a while in order for me to ship it since its in a warehouse since my mom and I got evicted and had nowhere to put our stuff. We're getting an apartment Thursday, so hopefully two months in a warehouse shouldn't have damaged it.

You are a king among men, sir. You and Falco :3:
Shipping from where i live would probably cost more then the CPU itself.

I just have to ask, but why exactly do you have to help your school out over something like this?
I just have to ask, but why exactly do you have to help your school out over something like this?
I was thinking the same thing... School is the enemy... if anything, I'd steal from them.
I might be able to send you my old gateways parts. Everything works. Intel (Love Valley P) P965 Viiv Motherboard R0 C2D E6400 HIS ATI 4850 4GB crucial ballistix DDR2 Offer me a price, I'm open for offers. I would prefer to get rid of everything.
I have a random E6550 Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz sitting here. Fairly certain it works, and it was an old one someone didn't need anymore. It didn't work on my old mobo however.
I was thinking the same thing... School is the enemy... if anything, I'd steal from them.
Think of it this way: Have you ever been stuck in a school with terrible computers? You're not doing it necessarily for the school as a whole, you're doing for the people who actually want to learn something in that class and for the teacher who apparently has low funding and is generous enough to take money out of his own pocket to upgrade those computers. That's dedication.
I just have to ask, but why exactly do you have to help your school out over something like this?
When I was in high-school the fastest machine they had was a Pentium 233MHz with 32MB of RAM. This was in 2002. Most schools barely get enough funding for new books every SEVEN years, much less to support a decent technology program.
My engineering class rocks some HP's with Core i5s and all the others are just some generic Pentiums.
My meh-level school got 2 rooms full of computers 2 years in a row. This thread has made me appreciate my Black Box Dell

ITT: Post your school computer hardware
My school just bought 20 hp z600s for engineering. Xeons + quadro = win.
I was thinking the same thing... School is the enemy... if anything, I'd steal from them.
Because my school has an animation class working on about seven year old hardware and their amazing abilities bottlenecked by these horrible computers. I'm a good person and I want to help out my class because they have a lot of talent and dedication and it isn't being put to use because these computers are incapable of it. Also, I may be able to get my old 3850 back from my friend in Florida since he never used it and has gotten a new computer with a better GPU. If I can get it back, I'll add it into the package that I send.
I have E6850, a P35-DS3L, and 4GB of RAM. I also have an 8800GT (missing plastic cover), Optical disk drive, and a power supply. The 8800GT would be for free since I have no idea if it works. I can include everything but the case (unless you want to pay to ship a HAF 932) and HDD. Whats your best offer?
Well the CPU I'd probably give you $50 for, and the motherboard $25. I'm afraid the RAM and GPU would be out of my price range, though.
Don't be silly, it's going for a good cause. 100ish for everything?
Don't be silly, it's going for a good cause. 100ish for everything?
Possibly. I'll have to ask the teacher and get back to you.
Possibly. I'll have to ask the teacher and get back to you.
Sounds great, offer stands.
