Backstory Im a thirteen year old boy from the united states. I have been stuck with a ghetto laptop for almost 4 years now and im ready to change that. I run TF2 on the lowest setting possible with about 5 fps increasing programs and i still lag. Since im very passionate about TF2 this is holding me back My Plan I have been saving for a while now and I now have around 600 to 700 dollars to spend on computer parts Now the Problems Are: 1.I don't know what kind of hardware I'm going to have to get in order to run 2. I have never built a computer. Is it easy? So what do I need from you? To remedy problem 1, I can get sample specs from you, yes, you, the players of TF2, and then compile them together and determine what level of hardware I need - Simply take this template and fill in your PC specs and what settings you run TF2 at. Then enter a summary of what your graphics settings are and what FPS you get at average If you don't know or remember what your specs are for a specific field, just leave it blank. CPU: GPU: Motherboard: RAM: HDD: Cooling: PSU: Average FPS: TF2 graphics settings: If you don't know or remember what your specs are for a specific field, just leave it blank. Im hoping we can work this all out and I can build a new computer. Thank You :D
go to the store and buy a 600 dollar computer chances are it'll run

His point was that TF2 is stupidly easy to run, as far as specs go. Can't really say anything about specs myself, I haven't kept up with new stuff coming in, but you might want to check out this website: http://www.logicalincrements.com/
Since its your first build, I wouldn't get anything too expensive in case you accidentally a fire. But since you don't have anything to start with, it's going to be kind of steep regardless. Something like this would be good: Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811233112 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130651 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116890 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231310 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153165 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150598 HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148767 DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 OS: <Your choice> This comes out to around $551 without shipping. If you have a preference for AMD, it would probably be a bit cheaper, but performance in the kind of things you'd run on it would be worse than this Intel build.
All "gaming machines" from Worst Buy have hilariously awful GPUs.
Hey, better than most of the PC shops here If you want an actual GPU, you need an i7 rig with 16gb of ram and the flashiest, most expensive case ever

There's also a subforum for PC Building, where you might have more luck.
CPU: i5 3570k GPU: Ati HD4650, waiting for an upgrade Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK RAM: 8GB of DDR3 1333MHz HDD: 750GB Samsung Cooling: 2 fans, stock Intel cooler PSU: 500W no-name piece of shit. You see, my GPU is a piece of shit. Now, guess what, TF2 runs at 60FPS no problems. Well, not anymore, but it did run at 80+FPS when I first got it. The i3 and 7770GHz build is pretty good, go get it. And don't get a prebuilt. And there are tons of "How to put your PC together" on Youtube. Neweggs videos are pretty good.

My 5 year old q6600, 4GB RAM and GTS250 desktop can easily max out TF2 at 1680 x 1050 without breaking a sweat. You can run TF2 on a toaster

Side note: My old P4 630, 2 GB RAM and an ATI X1550 could run it on all low with a bearable framerate.
My old ATi x1600 ran source well enough, you can run it on a modern low-end $30 gpu.
Source is a heavily CPU bound game. You can have a pretty bad GPU paired with a decent CPU and still get good performance.
My old ATi x1600 ran source well enough, you can run it on a modern low-end $30 gpu.
I used to run it one my old Radeon x800 , run very well. I think the x800 was one of the best cards for it's time.
Yes one of my friends upgraded from a 4670 to 7850 but as he's still on a E6600 and his FPS increase was between 10-20 fps.
Well that's not right, I was getting higher FPS than that on a AMD 5200 X2 with a x800 card. What res is he running it at?
On further clarification he was running at 1600x900 on low but now at 1920x1080 on high so that would explain the small gap. Also I think the board is only PCIE 1.0 compatible. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] Also I said increase, not actual FPS.
Wingless keeps rating everybody dumb.
Wingless keeps rating everybody dumb.
Uh, only those few people because their suggestions were horrible and completely unhelpful.
Wingless keeps rating everybody dumb.
Don't worry about it.
