I was thinking about getting an iPod touch 4g but it has no USB slot. Plus it's just going to be obsolete by the next September. I was thinking something that fits in my pocket, has a high resolution screen, is good enough to run web browsing and applications and goes around the $300 mark. Anyone have any ideas?
Do games matter? Because, ipods have those impulse buys that are cheap but shallow, but the 3ds or dsi both have full games and wifi. I personally don't like the psp, but the ngp looks promising, but I don't think that comes out till fall. The ipod probably will be obsolete, but it's still a good piece of gear. You could also get a tablet. It probably won't fit in your pocket, but it's something to think about.
I'm sure the NGP is going to be good. Even better when it eventually gets jailbroken. I already have a laptop here. I could carry this with me everywhere instead of a tablet IMO. But games? Yes it should be able to run emulators.

If you want a good example of a bad release cycle check HTC - a new phone every few weeks or so it seems. Just get the iPod if you want a decent PMP and gaming device which once jailbroken will run pretty much any emulator. You could also wait for Samsung's PMPs which AFAIK will basically be like the Galaxy S without the phone.
I was thinking about getting an iPod touch 4g but it has no USB slot.
Just to clarify: you mean 'no usb' as in you can't plug in other devices into it, right? If that's a deciding factor, then you're going to have troubles... Archos tablets seem to be good, and aren't that huge to boot.
Yes I do mean a USB 2.0 slot. I saw the Archos tablets but I'm not sure how it compares to the current iPod Touch. They're good but once again I bring up how impractical it is to be holding something like that in public. They don't fit in your pocket.
