So on my netbook, when i tried to login i get a message about being banned for 3 months, or a temporary ban, but i ain't. I emailed and no reply and still can't get in.
What does your netbook use to access the net? 3G? Your own network? A hotspot?
If you connect via a public network, or even say, your office network, I'd expect someone got banned on the network, which is splashing over to you.
Yeah, if the IP you try to connect on was used by another user who got banned, facepunch thinks you're that person. Simple way to combat alt-makers.
I use the wireless, but no one has been banned for a while, besides me. [editline]11:30AM[/editline] And everyone is unbanned also...
Sure your brother or something didn't make an account to disagree with you online, and got perma'd or whatever? And are you banned from logging in from Facepunch? Maybe PM a mod or something about it..
You are currently logged in under the same IP as a guy called Eleventeen who was permabanned 5 months ago.
I use the desktop computer, and my brother uses a laptop which uses Wireless to connect to our internet. So if he was to get banned, id be gone too?
You are currently logged in under the same IP as a guy called Eleventeen who was permabanned 5 months ago.
Oh, well what do i do about it now?
Change your Ip address, to avoid the Ip ban... Maybe PM Benji or Lithifold to confirm that this wont get you banned for any odd reason, Two methods: 1. Get to a command prompt. 2. Type "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes). 3. Shut down computer. 4. Turn off computer. 5. Turn off all ethernet hubs/switches. 6. Turn off cable/DSL modem. 7. Leave off overnight. 8. Turn everything back on. or 1. Log into the router's admin console. (Often http://192.168.1.1/) 2. Release the IP address. (Method varies by router manufacturer) 3. Turn off router, ethernet hubs/switches, and the cable/DSL modem. 4. Leave off overnight. 5. Turn everything back on.
I need a easy one that can work instantly, since if it fails overnight, i won't have facepunch for a week while i'm up at my dads.
You can try a proxy, that would give your Ip a different appearance (number)
How do i do that in linux mint 9?
Proxies are websites. [editline]11:59PM[/editline] Proxies forward your web traffic, basically You --> proxy server --> internet So it looks like your things are coming from the proxy's Ip (so if someone gets banned on the proxy, you'd get banned too) [editline]12:13AM[/editline]
I use the desktop computer, and my brother uses a laptop which uses Wireless to connect to our internet. So if he was to get banned, id be gone too?
Think so. One of my brothers got banned from a site because my other brother got banned.
So how do i try another proxy?
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=proxy pick one. [editline]12:35AM[/editline]
So how do i try another proxy?
Another? If your currently using one, Elevenist or whatever was probably banned on that one.
I went to http://www.atproxy.net/ then i clicked http://www.domainages.tk/ and i pasted the facepunch link in, i signed in and i managed to get in...But how can i log in without going to a proxy? (Still can't log in but can in http://www.domainages.tk)
Use a proxy or change your Ip by doing what I posted above.
If you connect via a public network, or even say, your office network, I'd expect someone got banned on the network, which is splashing over to you.
If he's in an office building, that would work.

I don't know the admin consoles password, and if it doesn't work i will be out of time, and then it will be "No facepunch for a week"
Ask your mum/dad who probably do know the password? I'm assuming your connecting from home, yes?
Yes, and my mum is sleeping, and my brother is up, and if i turn the internet off, he will get pissed.
Then wait till your mum is up, and inform your brother the internet will not be available, and if he couold fill his time in any way other than using the internet, that would be great. When your at your dad's you can use a proxy... Wait, why can't you use Facepunch at your dad's? explain that. [editline]01:23AM[/editline] I think it just has to be off at midnight .. so maybe just get your brother off the net from 11.58 - 12.02 or something.
/facepalm, by going to my dads, i meant traveling to another town, and it is 1:57, and we would leave at either 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM or 9:00 AM
/facepalm, by going to my dads, i meant traveling to another town, and it is 1:57, and we would leave at either 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM or 9:00 AM
Yeah. In another town, or even another house, Your Ip would be different, so the Ip ban wouldn't affect you at your dad's.
And...Will it fix it? If i sign in up there, Click "Remember me", and then will i be fine? [editline]03:59PM[/editline] Because it only happens if i am logged out on a banned IP on FP, and non is banned at dads.
I think this happened to me, I logged in and was permabanned about 6 months ago, something about having the same IP as some other user, I asked Hez-... Gestapo for an unban but he didn't do anything. Is there anything I can do?
