As the title says, do you believe in free will?
Why?
no
Yes, to some extent. I do believe that some choices we make are ultimately predetermined by our experiences, though.
free will is an illusion area 51 is a lie and obama is the devil
Partly, but majorly not.
Determinism
Ummmm. It's hard to see how anyone can't believe in it.
As long as doing as you wish whilst obeying the law and having standards/morals counts as free will, sure.

If you read more into philosophy you would understand.

Not really. The only things observed in nature that are not determined by prior events are so small Newtonian physics doesn't work on that scale (quantum physics). I don't see how we are anything special and can just make things happen in our brains that occur only in subatomic particles.
Maybe my understanding of our brain is wrong though.

*physics.
I'd rather not think about it.

I am pretty sure things like free will goes under philosophy, it might go under physics as well, like quantum. But I must say I am illiterate when it comes to physics, not so much when it comes to philosophy.

I understand what you mean and I've done sufficient reading, but there comes a point where we must accept things as they appear to be, as to maintain sanity. Perhaps you didn't choose to come to this thread, but in your mind, you feel that you did. I say it's best to just go with that. Drawing conjectures based on unobservable ideas doesn't get us all that far.
So what you want to believe is what makes you feel good, not what is actually true.
Yeah, I do.
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
And I'm too tired to explain why, I'm sorry
I remember reading about this one Philosopher that came before Socrates who theorized that free will was only an illusion, that our events are on a linear path of time of which we cannot deviate; incredibly interesting.
EDIT:
Found a video about it:

I don't even see how this is a philosophical question.
I'm unable to say.
No, although I wish we did.

I believe is what makes me feel justified when I "choose" to do things like post in this thread. And you really can't say that that is false. Can you?
I believe in fate but I also believe in time travel so it becomes a wash.
I have free will in that every choice I make is completely my own. It's just that the number of choices a person can make depends on the situation.
If I had any urge to I could make a banme, but I choose not to, why would I
don't tell me that by some divine chance since the big bang happened JUST like it did there was no outcome except for you to create this thread
you could rate me dumb, or agree, your call
The fact that you think you have free will is in no way evidence that you do.
lol if our lives had any purpose we wouldn't be on facepunch all day.
I believe in boxes.

Here have one.

The fact that you think we don't is is no way evidence that we don't. Ultimately, it makes no difference.
Also as some Enlightenment speaker said that we learned about in History: "I think therefore I am". Sums up my ideas on this I guess.
freewill is a good song by rush
We're all controlled by invisible daemons from a hellish dimension that exist only in our minds.

only rational explanation, obviously people can't think for themselves
