Nicer is subjective.
Actually looks worse in some places, no thanks
I'll wait and see, in my experience Youtube is not the place to examine texture differences due to the amount of compression it uses.
Nicer is subjective.
Considering you need tons of settings fuckery to make it run in full hd, not to mention get proper FoV, a remake is absolutely a good thing, even if the visuals themselves don't get much change. Don't really get why so many people are against this, will make it a much easier game to boot up and play out of the box. The one thing bioshock infinite had that bs1 and 2 didn't have was the ease of use in settings and such, whereas in bioshock 1 even the mouse control was immensely weird until you managed to find the right variables out of the game. I for one am very happy they are remaking it.
Bioshock 1 and 2 are games I 100000% support and desired a remaster for BS:I is a bit too recent, doesn't fit in
No matter if they don't even do anything with the graphics, a quality of life improvement in the menus is nonetheless welcome. Best of all: IT'LL BE FREE IF YOU ALREADY OWN THE DAMN GAME!

You can take 720p footage with low detail textures and 4K footage with HD textures, mix it into a 1080p video, add Youtube compression and BAM ! It ends looking the same.

I remember playing BS2 recently and it seemed to support arbitrary resolutions, even custom ones I created for downsampling. Though that old abomination of an engine still has tons of other issues on modern systems, the sound doesn't work properly and the physics run at a really low framerate among other things. It's going to be nice to get a great experience out of the box, instead of having to apply a ton of tweaks and mods to get it working properly. I wonder if they're just going to fix up and upgrade the original bioshock engine or are they porting the whole thing to something newer?
I wonder if they're just going to fix up and upgrade the original bioshock engine or are they porting the whole thing to something newer?
It is being ported to the Bioshock Infinite engine
It is being ported to the Bioshock Infinite engine
Sounds good, that should fix pretty much all the problems then.
I can see the changes, but IDK if I'd call it an improvement. [editline]10th August 2016[/editline] I'm still excited for it though.

Like they just straight ported it to a new version if UE and didn't touch up lighting fuckups.
I'm happy these are getting remade for modern systems, though I can't say they've really improved much for Bioshock 1. There are some better textures and more details like the foilage that would have grown underwater but then there's parts where they've made it darker and less colorful for seemingly no reason. I'm not gonna be getting it but hey, it looks fine enough for people who have never played it
im just happy that itll more than likely fix the sound issues the game has had on different PCs since forever, sound would just not work at all and there was basically nothing you could do about it due to sound drivers or something
