I've been making these threads for like a month now, but I'm finally about to order. My budget is around $470-$480, and I already have monitor/HDD/DVD/mouse/kb.

I know the tracer ram is gay, but I plan to tape over the LEDs. I just thought it would go nice with the ASUS mobo and the blue graphics card. Any changes you guys would make? I almost got a Athlon X2 instead but the unlock potential of the Phenom is kind of interesting.

I'm going to be doing a decent amount of gaming on it, so I'd like to keep the 5750 if you make any changes.

8 dollars more for a 5770
it doesn't have $20 back though...

It doesn't really matter until you start to go up to higher resolutions.
My monitor is 1920x1080, so I've been mostly leaning towards the 1gb cards.

The HIS 5750 is pretty cheap after the mailin, is 1gb, and has a nice cooler to allow for what I assume should be some decent overclocking. I'm probably going to stick with it if only for the rebate.

Switched RAM to the following and I'm about to order.

take out what you don't need and its within your budget
It's the same build with a equally powerful but last-gen graphics card, a slower (although quad) athlon lacking l3...

Notin gay bout crucial ram.

Depends, some games have ultra high res textures.

CPU clock isn't all the determines performance.
A equivalent processor would be the p2 550.
The 4850 is cheaper.
Faster memory at a lower voltage
Ordered already. If the phenom unlocks to a quad i'll be pretty happy. I prefer the dx11 support on the graphics card even if it wont be able to handle alot of future dx11 games. I also ended up getting different ram.

Don't even worry about using DX11 yet. We're still kinda hovering around DX10 still.

Lol ya, don't bother with dx11, hell don't even bother about dx10 seeing as the only games that support dx10-11 are games that are not really worth playing anyway.

I strongly disagree with most of that.
Why does everyone use that Cooler Master® case? I know it is good but I don't feel special anymore :frown:. Next build I'm going to make sure the person I'm building it for tries a new brand and case.

It comes in assorted colors.

Red, orange, and blue.
I got the Blue one because for some weird reason it had lower shipping costs ($5 lower).
OP get the orange or red, everyone gets blue.
I got blue... like a week ago. It's sexy as hell. I might even take a few photos.
