I wonder to what extent Capcom was thinking "we can't sully the 'Resident Evil' brand by putting its name on this shit"
I feel like this game could have been promising but suffers from weird design choices, low production qualities and overall false use of a license.
It doesn't help that the game looks extremely bloated and your screen is constantly bombarded with information, furthermore the animations and ridiculous movement makes it looks weird as fuck.
I've enjoyed it so far, but $30 is definitely steep for the content that's present.
And as for the mouselook issue, they released a patch earlier today to improve sensitivity and reduce the general clunky feel that it had before.
So say what you will about the game but I'm glad the devs are at least listening to the playerbase ... all 300 of us. :v:
Looks like poop.

I mean it's Resident Evil. They haven't had a good PC port of an RE game with mouse aiming like, ever. I don't think there's one game I've played with a KB&M.

So just like RE:Rev2. I dunno how they've managed to get worse at doing PC ports, RE5 was pretty good controls wise.

Weirdest thing is, I've been playing RE:REV1, and the mouselook is fine on that.

it feels this way
seriously this game is fucking bizarre. probably dont buy it
A Capcom PC port where mouse controls feel like emulated joystick? Who'dathunkit.
But what's baffling here is that previous instances could be blamed on the MT Framework engine. This ain't MT Framework, this is Unity of all things.
I think it's a pretty fun game, but I have it on ps4 so I can't exactly speak for the PC port.

Resident Evil 5 had a near-perfect default control scheme for using the mouse cursor for floating crosshairs. You could still do a quick U-turn, but being able to cripple or kill everything on your screen with a flick of the wrist more than made up for not being able to turn left or right very quickly.
That also applied to the interface, with the 3x3 inventory grid supporting number key selection running 1-9 from left to right and top to bottom instead of 1-4 applying to the four directions on a D-pad.
Without taking into account GFWL and a couple of bad QTE binds, it's the best port job done of a Resident Evil game for how good it looked, how well it ran and how perfectly adapted it was to a mouse and keyboard. All the ones done since by Capcom's new in-house team or QLOC have been okay at best. They run well, after a few patches in some cases and you can get around just fine with a mouse and keyboard, but I don't feel as much effort gone into any of them as with RE5.

IIRC something about the movement controls made me end up just grabbing my 360 controller and playing it via that.

And maybe something about the non-aiming mouselook? I didn't even get past the butcher before I plugged in a controller.
Fun fact. This game is canon (Yes really) and has the return of a character that couldn't possibly return to the series in a cameo.
Yes they hid a gigantic plot revelation in a budget, terrible outsourced shooter.
