I'm a bit new with building computers, and I bought a Phenom II x2 550 that has a Hypertransports spec of 4000mhz, but my motherboard is only 2600. I look in CPU-Z and notice my bus speed is only 200mhz, as it should be much higher. I'm guessing I fucked up? What do I do from here? Phenom II x2 3.1 3gb ddr3 250 GTS my motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131603&cm_re=M4A77TD-_-13-131-603-_-Product proc http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103680 not sure what to do here, is it going to be worth it speed-wise to replace my motherboard? I hear AMD's hypertransport is iffy. My games run fine, my primary concern being Arma 2, which runs at a steady (but playable) 25-30fps, which I'd like higher. My ram is a bottleneck too, I'm going to fix it (It's only in single channel, goofed up my purchase). [editline]05:49AM[/editline] actually the fault of buying these components was listening to people on FP :|
If you have a 3 gig kit of ddr3 it should be running in multichannel mode. I think. Unless you have the ram wrongly positioned on the motherboard.
I don't see anything wrong with that CPU-Z screen. Here's a couple I found on reviewing sites: I'd guess that the 4GHz speed listed on Newegg is either maximum HT (when overclocked? I don't know how that works) or marketing BS.

They are the same manufacturer and DDR3 1066, just they are not identical, therefore no dual channel. [editline]07:06PM[/editline] actually, scratch that. i have them working in dual! just had them in the wrong places. [editline]08:22PM[/editline] actually, screw it all. i've learned 200mhz is normal. i unlocked my two other cores and everything runs twice as fast, the only thing i need to get is a better cooler.

Also hypertransports are double data rates.
