well today, i got together alot of my older and unplayed games, atleast 13 of them and traded them in for Brink: Special Edition. now, i've installed the game, hit play and im greated with a large orange box of this. "the current video card/ driver combination does not support "OpenGL 3.1 or newer" never in my life have i heard of open GL, i've had this graphics card for a year, it runs crysis quite smoothly, it can process high quality textures, etc and yet after spending money on this game i am prompted by a box saying I can't play it so what does this mean?. i've been to open GL and tried to download whatever the hell they make and its a web page full of note pad adobe reader text. nothing more or does this mean i need another graphics card? I have a radeon x1800/2200, im actually not sure which, i lost the box and i don't want to tamper with my computer as its been through some screw ups and problems (i have to lay it on it's side for it to work)
OpenGL is a 3D graphical API, like Direct3D. Sounds like your graphics card doesn't support a high enough version of OpenGL for you to play. It's not a big surprise, ATI are shit at supporting it. I'm not sure if there's a patch you can get or anything like that.
well goddamn, money down the drain
You bought a game without checking the minimum system requirements and you're complaining that it won't work? Hahahahaha.
