To be honest I could see cryptomining become a way to get basically free subscription depending on your computer. Of coarse it all has to be by consent.

It depends on how much they're going to ask me to sacrifice of my processor or graphics card.
I rather not have my browser heat up my room just because I visit a certain site or slow down my PC when I play a game on the side.
Added with that I see the mining as quite the waste with that method.
Sure the return is something if you do it on enough computers but its just so much more power usage, I wonder what the actual impact on the environment is if this got popular all of the sudden.

I'm sure that there's going to be a Chrome extension that disables cryptocurrency functionality in the browser.
No-script yo. Can't mine if we're not allowing any scripts by default. The real kicker is when they integrate it into the video player its self.
Yep, TPB trialed this (i belive without telling anyone) and a certain reddit of children blew up over it.
Personally, as long as there's full disclosure, I'm fine with whatever sites put on. If they tell me exactly what they plan on monetizing off of me, I'll respect their decision to do so, and if it's something I feel uncomfortable with, probably not use the site. But I can't stand the idea of subtly putting in cryptominers on websites without any disclosure, so noscript's staying on for a while in case other sites start to follow suit.
i'd happily cryptomine for youtube for no ads
from what I've read about the topic, it seems like javascript cryptocurrency mining barely makes any money, certainly not enough to replace ad revenue.
