I'm wanting to get an SSD for my laptop, as the hard drive in it currently is impossibly slow (A usb 3.0 hard drive was 40MB/s faster). It only needs to be a 120GB drive, as if I want any storage I will be putting it on my external hard drive anyway.
Been thinking of getting a Samsung 840 series as I have heard good things about them. http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9948
The same places has an 840pro but I'm not sure it would be worth the price increase of about $50 (Yes I know it's faster, but it isn't a daily use thing).
Are there any 120GB SSDs you could recommend me in the $100-$120 price range?
Thanks in advance.
Considering you have USB 3 it shouldn't be a problem, but which laptop do you have? Some people have bandwidth issues.
Have an HP DV6-6100AX. As I said, the hard drive is impossibly slow. Seems like a low end 5200 RPM drive.
Also, before you ask why I have an HP laptop, I got it free brand new, not going to decline a free laptop.
The regular 840 series is a good way to go for that price range from what I've read. You wouldn't be doing yourself a disservice if you purchase one. I've also heard good things from a friend who picked up a couple of Crucial M500s which seem similar in terms of read/write performance.
