Hi guys, I am planning on upgrading my computer, I currently have 3 screens, one to watch movies, another to play games and the other for guides/social. When I do all at the same time I suffer from FPS loss. Here are my system specs (built Feb last year): CPU Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K CPU fan Cooler master 212 EVO Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V PRO Intel Z77 Socket 1155 Ivybridge Ready Computer Case Corsair Carbide Series 400R Black Mid Tower Hard Drive WD Caviar Black 2TB (7200 RPM) SATA 6GB/s 64MB 3.5 inch Hard Drive 2 WD 500gb (from old computer) SSD Samsung 256GB 840 Pro Series Ram Corsair Memory Vengeance Low Profile Jet Black 16GB DDR3 Graphics Card XFX HD7950 Double Dissipation AMD/ATI - 3GB PSU EVGA 120-PG-0650-GR SuperNova NEX 650W Monitors ASUS VE248H Full HD LED Monitor with HDMI x2 I want to guy a better graphics card, maybe dual sli GTX 780's That would also mean I would have to upgrade my PSU, although I am not sure how high I should go with the wattage.. 900/1000 or higher??? I then want to upgrade my screens that have a smaller bezzel, maybe 2 of these ASUS VE248H and 1 of Asus VG248QE Then get a XFX Eyefinity Triple Display Monitor Stand in total = £1,833 (including screens, PSU, Graphics cards and monitor stand) Thanks, Chi
Damn son, for that kind of budget you might as well upgrade the CPU too to an i7. I would just get a 780ti though. Are you doing 1440p for gaming? If you want a thin bezel monitor you can always get something like this with a full glass bezel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009483
I second the 780Ti, there's too many possible issues with SLI for me to be able to recommend it, especially for a 1080p screen. A i7 would actually be a decent upgrade if you haven't tried overclocking, as the lack of threads is the only reason i can see for you to be lagging if you're only running a single game. The thing is, try to reformat windows or overclock your processor more before you pay this much for upgrades. You might be able to save it for better things if the performance issues are fixable. [editline]17th March 2014[/editline] Is it just drops in FPS or stuttering?
I am experience similar stuttering with my multiple screens. Which games is it in? I found when I changed my settings to Windowed Fullscreen, it's causing stutters, but the setting is necessary to use all 3 of my screens. [editline]17th March 2014[/editline] Also just a warning, generally for stands the size rating is for complete width of the monitor, including bezel. Might want to just make sure that they will all fit.
i'd go with lilyo's single 780Ti and Randomgamers i7 aswell, as there are alot of issues you have to solve to get SLI to work without too many problems. and depending on the games you play you should just stay with the 2 monitors you have already, unless you plan to play multiplayer games, in which case the 144hz screen will do you well.
Thanks for all your comments guys, so based on all your suggestions I will get this screen, i will be doing 1440p gaming: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3xs-modified-24-asus-vg248qe-g-sync-black-led-monitor-1920x1080-800000001-350cd-m-1ms-vesa-dport and keep the current 2 i currently have, not going to get a tri-monitor stand... What is the difference between the normal 780 and the 780ti? Also I need a display port for the main gaming screen... do they have one? What i7 shall I get, should I get hyper-threading? (willing to spend around 400) Motherboard socket 1155 Ivybridge. I have over clocked it in the past but only when i go to the extreme it is a little bit better. So i would rather get a new processor.
The i7 3770K is the natural processor choice for your motherboard, as it's the only overclockable one available for it. The 780Ti is based on the GK110 graphics chip that has 15 SMX "cores", basically the building blocks of the GK110 chip. The 780 has three of these disabled, meaning it performs worse.
