I miss Windows Picture and Fax viewer. Any close alternatives?

Whenever a friend comes over, I like to show them my collection of laugh-inducing images. The thing I liked about WP&FV was that it was fast, light, and played .gif images. With Windows 7, I noticed it was gone and Microsoft's replacement (Live Photo Gallery) does not play gifs.

What program does Facepunch recommend as a replacement?

FireFox plays .gif files just fine for me. I don't have alot of them, so I'm okay.

There are no back or next picture buttons in FireFox, though.

True, but like I mentioned, I don't have that many .gif files, so I can use Windows 7 Picture Viewer, and if I want to look at a .gif, I just use FireFox, and use Alt-Tab to switch back and fourth (if needed).

I use Picasa ([url]http://picasa.google.ca/[/url]), while it doesn't play GIF animations it is a good alternative to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

What if you were to make a local HTML page where you can browse through the images on your web browser? Then music, videos, gifs etc etc all work. Plus it's completely customizable.
