Okay, I don't know what to do and I'm worried.
I boot up my PC, and Windows starts normally.
When it's on the desktop, half of the icons load and the others don't. The light in the front of the case is constantly red.
When I open up My Computer, there are the 2 hard drives listed but the 2nd is without any information such as size.
None of the applications/files from D:/ load. I'm on Windows 7.
So is there anyone who could help me with this?
I'm posting this through my mobile phone.
Edit: R.I.P.
Will be getting a new one later.
Boot in safe mode
scan with MBAM

this doesn't sound like a virus, download HD Tune instead.
Isn't D:/ usually recovery? What's your C:/ drive?
Open up task manager, go to the Performance tab, click the Resource Monitor button, and tell us how much load there is and what images are using the most read and write amounts.

Some people keep their applications installed on a separate drive/partition so we don't have to reload everything when we reinstall windows.

I use C:/ for Windows and Steam
D:/ for other data.

I seem to be able to use system tools, Internet browsers and other things from C:/, but D:/ doesn't seem to work at all. Is it dead or something? :ohdear:
The light is still red
Turn the machine off and open the case. Reseat the data and power cables for both drives to make sure they aren't loose. If the problem persists, the drive probably died.

Trust me I know. I'm running an SSD boot drive with a second drive for program files and user files.
Just thought I'd clarify what he was using it for.
Sounds like a failing / dead drive
It happens :/

:gonk:
Is there any way to save the data? There were many things stored in there - Music, photos, drawings, etc... It's a shame to lose it all. :ohdear:

I also can't open my Recycle Bin. what.
Oh it just takes a shitload of time to open now.
yes there are plenty ways to try and save data but im afrafd i dont remenber any names right now
If the disk activity light is solid on, the drive probably has bad sector(s) that it's trying to read over and over again to get data off of.
There's a DOS recovery program called Spinrite 6.0 which may be able to fix the drive enough to get any data off before it completely fails, unfortunately it isn't free. You can purchase it here: http://www.grc.com/cs/prepurch.htm
The $89 pricetag is well worth it.

I already recovered my valuable data from it through Piriform Recuva, it's free.
Recuva is an undelete application. Since it relies on the Windows disk subsystem, it's limited to what it can recover. If you got your data, your drive probably wasn't totally dead yet.
