CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz Graphics Card Geforce GTX 560 ti OC Memory 8GB 800MHz DDR2 Hard Drives I'm not sure of the exact speed. I have two of them and they are around 2-3 years old. The RPMs aren't that great. Motherboard ASRock N68-S. This is a VERY cheap board. I got it for around 30-40 dollars. So I wouldn't say I get poor performance on games but there are still some games that I would like to run on max with 0 lag. There's two things i'm looking at to upgrade; the hard drives or the motherboard but I'm not sure if any would even change my game performance. I'm not sure if I should get a new motherboard or a SSD. Would it be worth the upgrade?
Get an Am3+ mobo and new RAM for now. Then when Bulldozer comes out get that.
Processor is OK, and that 560 is good. New RAM and motherboard will suffice. Also if you are looking into getting a new HDD, I suggest the Spinpoint F3 1TB.
I'm looking at this motherboard. It HAS to be better than the one I'm using now. And now for a separate question. Should I go with this processor? and a different MB? I have always been a fan of Intel. I use this x4 965 because a friend let me have it.
If you have the money, I really suggest that you get a 2500K, with a compliant 1155 mobo. So worth it.
I really don't think you'll be seeing much performance difference with a motherboard and RAM upgrade, a HDD upgrade could help some stuttering problems in some games possibly, games that stream data a lot, but you can't really be sure. A new AM3+ motherboard would be your best bet, and when bulldozer does come out, get a new CPU and then make a build with all your old stuff and sell it, and try and get a better GPU or maybe another 560 TI to SLI with.
I think I'll wait until I have the money for the i5 2500k or an i7. I already have DD3 ram somewhere in my room so I don't need to buy new ram. I just need to find a motherboard now. I'm looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.660241 Thanks for the help everybody!
